How did whatthefunk manage to comment on it before it appeared?

It's possible to edit a post and delete it before another post is made on the same thread. I can only assume that the picture was posted, then edited to deletion, and came back after the comment on it was posted.

Exactly.

The first two times I posted it it was too big so I deleted the post to re-size the pic.

This is Korea right here.

Skyscrapers, jumbled together buildings, "barbershops", cars parked wherever, signs, signs, everywhere there's signs... All under a pure white sky, much like you would expect to find in heaven.

Giving Birth Abroad
"Korean" is one product that has lost its competitiveness. A home shopping network offers "emigration packages" and gets sold out, while "emigration fairs" are standing room only. When private tutoring fees are a major burden on household finances, when you're going to be unemployed even as a university graduate, and when having a job still leaves you feeling insecure, then of course people aren't going to want to live in Korea. If people believe that today's a trial and tomorrow you'll only be more drained, then the "escape Korea syndrome" will be unstoppable.

Before I really knew anything about Korea, or had any motivation to move here, the images I associated with the ROK were of violent demonstrations. On CNN or in the newspaper, usually involving labor unions or the U.S. military. I remember saying to myself "damn, these people do NOT mess around when they're protesting something."

Geeze, the officer is on fire and those people are just trying to stamp it out.

They seem quite friendly to me.

Every once in a while I see a picture that just hits me, and I think, "That's Korea. Right there." I've got two here but I'm sure you all have your own as well. Let's see them...

that IS korea!!

Funny how all the things in these photos come to mind when thinking of korea. I think of situation's like mith's photo, some badly dressed ajoshi boring the crap out of some poor girl and because he's older and male she has to put up with it. If the girl is lucky it is merely boredom she must put up with and not sexual harrasment .
You think of the subway at 12.30 with people stammering around trying not to throw up there sam gyop sal and liqour.

I wonder how teachers in thailand or japan would respond to the same questions. Would they be more 'positive'/picturesque pictures?

I just can't resist the urge to be a pedant- that's a genuine sauna not a dodgy barbershop. Sorry.
