Apparently there is now a cap on how much a hogwan can charge students' parents. It came into effect yesterday. It is an attempt to make high priced hagwan education more accessible to low income families. In some cases the tuitions will be halved. This could spell bad news considering that a lot of places are already just barely scraping by. |

That's just silly. If the government really wanted hakwons to go out of business, they would make hakwons illegal. |

So much for free enterprise!
No one and no government has the right in my opinion telling or regulating how much a business can charge.
If it's too expensive to buy, etc...who is forcing the customer to spend?
Hakwons...students/parents don't have to attend that particular school!
Price gouging is one thing...but cost of services for goods should be up to the business owner.
You want to get the best college education possible...it'll cost you an arm and leg to attend the best universities! You want to learn/study at the best hakwon possible...it'll cost you! Big difference being....universities don't screw over their teachers and cheat them out of money. |

I corrected an student article for our school newspaper. It was about teaching Chinese in our school. The meeting the student reported on was attended by members of the district administration. The kid who wrote this was just taking facts from the meeting. Here is one quote:
" We will make Chinese relevant by focusing on course education and considering the students' wishes-- allowing students to choose their preferred high school, and to decrease the cost of private education."
And with all of the Public school English jobs that opened this past year, it's more proof that they are indeed trying to wrestle this away from the hagwons.
English, and now, Chinese. |

It won't affect me. I found out we charge 90,000 a month, per student. Now, that's a deal. |
