I've been doing employee evals for my morning biz job over the last 2 weeks. It's amazing how at the end of the interview, these businessmen much older than myself say things like, "Let me tell you about this, I'm up for a promotion and I really need a good score." Or "Please, I can't get lower than a 5, that's what I got last time..." I tell them to leave a sealed bank envelope on my desk (just kiddin). Anyone else seen this type of begging when having to do this for your company? I'm on a tight schedule because I have to do 10 a day...I almost leave an extra 3 minutes for it at the end of the interview. |

is there a standardized grading procedure?
how many evaluators have offered grades in the year before you?
if there is no standard, and evaluators are turning over frequently, i would just give the crybabies what they want, unless the demand seems unreasonable.
this is not high school. these guys have families and tons of work stress to deal with. let it go, if it's reasonable.
even better.... bump EVERYONES score by the same percentage.
everyone will be happy, and the overall ranking is preserved.
however, if you have been there a long time and there is some credibility to the system, then stick to your guns....but somehow i doubt this to be the case in korea. |

Just curious, what is your grading system based on? |

Tell them,
As kind-heartedly as possible that your English resounds with elogance. You do not deserve such aggravation to learn such a tortous language. Out of all the hard-working Koreans on the R.O.K. that you deserve this promotion more than any of them.
Then, with a great Mega-watt smile mention how you'll be touched to join him at his local room salon and listen to him berate you on your bad teaching methodology. He'll also mention that he would have wished to pay for this night out, but he had to fork over his salary to his wife to save face from his night outs.
Oh yeah, mention to them...
That Jason Imgumnim
doesn't give a d...
doesn't give a f...
Stop the vicious circle. Stop Korean Businessmen from perpetuating their horrific business ethics in the global world.
If they want an altruistic promotion from a slug to a guy I want to hug, then they should apologize for abandong me and the rest of their unwanted children.

it's based on a 7 pt. scale made up by sisa. Now that the evals are over, I'm getting pestered for scores even though it's confidential. I'll just tell them all I gave them 7's. They'll never find out. |

Did you give them all sevens or did they earn the grade? I thought students earned their grades? Or is it just me? |
