Well, I've been in S.K. for four months now and I miss Tim Horton's coffee, camenbert and cheddar cheese, and Peter Mansbridge and the CBC. What do you miss from Canada the most?

Nekid women wearing beaver skin hats. Sweet romance with them by seal oil lamplight in an ice cave, on a polar bear rug. Afterwards, while she chews my mocassins to soften them, some Caribou stew. And come daylight, the sun coming up over the tundra.
Heading home in four weeks, haven't been in four years. It feels not like 'heading home', but 'going to another country'. But I'll get some black, twizzlers licorice ropes. Some perogies, borsch, and cabbage rolls. Some real Chinese food. A 'real' pizza. And so on. Which'll be good.

Been here about a month and so far I'm missing: Tim Hortons, Basketball (would say hockey but...well.....*sigh*), cheddar cheese, smarties, adult sized pop cans, English Very Happy . I'm sure I could think of more, but that's it off the top of my head Wink

I miss all the laughter we got down in the states because of all those funny Canadians and their aye and zed saying way of life.

I kid I lived with a Canadian once, she wasn't that funny.

Though because of the kids in the hall, I can never truly look down on Canada.

I miss being able to drink my Diet Coke from proper-sized cans. I also miss being able to go into stores and hear decent music. And of course I miss my cat, my brothers, my parents, friends, church, etc.

I miss a Tim Horton's mocha, driving my car, going for beers and wings with my friends, my family, my 2 month old nephew. Of course, all things that will still be there when I get home a year from now. I've only been here a month. I may need more time to really be craving for things.

I remember my first month I was craving fresh-ground coffee all the time. Then one day I discovered a small shop near my apartment that sold beans, grinders, machines, the works. I spent 80,000 and walked out with a full setup for fresh ground coffee.

But now that I look back on it, I don't understand the Tim Horton's obsession anymore.

Other than family and friends, being an unnoticed nobody walking down the road. Cleanliness. open spaces, houses with gardens, big parks, sane traffic, being able to talk to almost anybody, the variety in the grocery stores...
