Bird identification question!

Around my town near Yongin, and in the woods near Anyang, I've seen and heard a bird that I can't classify, and it's starting to drive me bonkers.

It has a distinct and frequent SQUEAK! and it flies in a swoop-flutter-swoop-flutter pattern. It's been very hard to get a peek at it, because it tends to alight very high, but since the trees are starting to clear, I've had a couple glances.

The first peek at it seemed to reveal a pointed, white-edged tail, rather like a dove. I got another look at it in profile (on a different occasion; hopefully this is the same bird) and it resembled an American robin or a phoebe more than a dove. It seemed to have an upright posture and a medium, pointed beak.

Clear as mud?

Its always pretty hard to identify birds from others descriptions..
I'd immediately say, though, quite possibly a great spotted woodpecker on this occasion.
They are quite common in korea, live in woodland habitat, and their flight is undulating. Also, white edged tail, and upright posture.

What size/ color/ tail length in relation to body was it?
The loud "squeak" reminds me also of the bulbul.. a common bird here, greyish in color, very restless and active, thrush-sized yet sleeker, more slender.

I wonder if those weren't two different birds. I'm sure I didn't see a woodpecker yesterday, and you're right-- it was definitely more thrush-like.
A bulbul, eh? Nifty! What else can you tell me about them?

(Captainkirk kindly gave me some directions on how to find a bookstore that carries a guide, which I will seek on my next foray into Seoul.)
