with 10 years teaching at differant unis here in Kr and a B.A. & M.A. + TESOL Dip. i have not even got an interview in the last few weeks of sending out resumes all over the country.

it seems to me they r only interested in young & attractive folks with their newly acquired TESOL MA degrees.

Experience here means absolutely nothing now!

Yeah, I find that hard to believe. Plus unis won't start interviews for another month at least, they've just put ads up recently. Give it some time. Good luck.

This is very true for foreigners.

While Koreans may have some trouble finding work, they are rewarded very well for experience. Foreigners do not receive the same reward (or respect) for experience.

You seem to know Korea fairly well. Perhaps, you know too much. Why hire a well-informed foreigner? Why not hire a naive foreigner? Why not hire a young, desperate foreigner?

Why age discrimination?

Traditionally, older people are accorded honor. For instance, at dinner the eldest person sits first and eats and drinks before anyone else can begin. Anyone older must always be addressed with honorifics, even among acquaintances.

Korean society is not egalitarian: a person's status is strictly defined in relation to others. Living in Korea as a foreigner requires patience....you should not expect to be accepted as a member of a Korean's inner circle.

I always heard it was so difficult to get a Uni job, but I only sent in one application, had one interview and got the job.....maybe it was just luck!! But good luck to you too, I'm sure with all those qualifications and experience you find one no problem Very Happy
