I went to a hogwn's end of the year party awhile back as a judge for the skit's, but one of the things I'll never forget was this dude (one of the hogwan teachers) belting out a mismash of Korean to music. He actually sang "a capella" (no norebong music stuff in the background, and no instruments or support whatsoever). I couldn't believe it. Just didn't think anyone would have the balls to do that. He held the tunes pretty good, but the songs he attempted to sing were'nt anything I had heard before, and the impression I got was that he loved being on stage no matter what.

The Korean audience of course gave him a rousing applause, but then they are very gracious when it comes to music anyway. Belittleing someone when he or she sings isn't a Korean thing, and support is always given regardless of wether the singer is good or bad.

On that note though, I am curious as to what your favourite Korean song is. That is, which Korean song do you sing the most in the norebongs, or which Korean songs do you like to sing.

My favourites are "Sarang Wi Hi E" Ͽ ,"Yon Ga" and ,"Ne Ga Manul"

"Yon Ga" is the Korean version of a homegrown NewZealand song. "Ne Ga Manul" was sung by Moon So Ri in "Oasis". "Sarang Wi Hi E" of course is an old favourite of everybody.

My favourite troat singer is Che Jin E, but I can't get my students to sing her songs with me. They indigninantly call her music adjumah music, and refuse to sing her songs

At the moment it is ڶϱ(because you are my woman) by ̽±

I have a few others for when i'm toasted and K-pop doesn't sound too bad.

Again - Jewellry
Hangukin - MC Sniper(frigging hard to do this rap though)
쿬 - Baby Vox
Champion - Psy
ȥ ҰŶ(If we married) - Cool
Now -FINKLE
 -
Together - Koyote
Run To You - D.J. DOC
Rush - Leesang
ּ - Lexy
Ajumma -WAX
Money - WAX
ٰ - ȭ
Cross - ȭ

Ok look i don't mind a bit of K-music.

Here is just a sample, there are probably many more but many of these are classics.

Anyway, if you are new that should be a pretty good list of classic songs that have come out in the last 5 years.

Very Happy Very Happy

I normally can't stand Korean music, but when BoA's "My Name" came out earlier this year, for some incredibly bizarre reason, I just .. I just couldn't get a enough of it. Catchy tune. Thankfully I'm over it now.

Currently in the rotation are only 2 Korean CDs, but they're both great, IMPNSHO. Fave tracks:

Ȳȥ by WAX (just because, I'm sure you'll love it--I got mine on the greatest hits package titled bestday/bestnight)

ٲ by WAX (was my favourite Kpop song until the above came along--my gf tells me it's a remake but who cares when it sounds like this? I have to slow "my" punkier version down when we sing together on our strolls)

Yolla-holla by Hooligans (saw them open for Drunken Tiger, and in the grand tradition of opening acts, absolutely blow away the headliners. DT sucks, but I didn't know that then. Hooligans were better live--put down some really cool grooves--but the CD has its moments.)

I think my new favorite song is "Baby, I wanna *beep* you while you lie there motionless and then throw up Kimchee on you" but I can't remember the artist of the top of my head. Maybe SEVEN.
