I downloaded a movie with Azureus. I use Windows Media Player to open and watch the movies I download. I've done it many times but today I tried to watch a movie and it said "Error downloading codec". I figure it has something to do with the sound since I could watch the movie but there was no sound ( yep I figured that one out all by myself Wink ). What I can't figure out is what to do about it, how to fix it. Does anyone know? Has anyine had similar problems? Do I have to scrap it and download it again? Thanks for all the help.

Download the "k-lite" codec pack here:

http://www.k-litecodecpack.com/

This should pretty much contain every codec you'll need. It even installs the original windows media player so you can just watch movies without all the crap in the later players.

Do a google search and download Ace Mega Codec Pack to end all codec problems, in the form of audio and video formats, for the rest of your computer's life,.

Hey there. I had similar problems to what you are having. All commecial players just plain suck. Just go and download this amazing educational project which has turned out the best movie player around... the name of this video player is 'VLC Media Player', and it can be downloaded for free at "http://www.videolan.org/". The best thing about this program is it is completely free, no annoying spy/ad-ware, and it makes everything work... Let me know if this solves your problem. Cool

First of all, any player usually plays any file as long as it has the codec. So its not the player. I use Media player for evrything excpet DVD's (I use PowerDVD for DVD's)

try and get this neat little app called "GSpot". (no funny comments please) It is a app that will identify the video and audio codecs used in a file. MPG, AVI etc.

http://www.headbands.com/gspot/download.html

Then you can install the codec needed. Easypeezeejapeneezee.

I should have also added that VLC player includes all the codecs you'll ever need. Happy video-watching!
