I've seen a fair number of those- quite popular.

My favourite Korean stationary: a big picture of 2 ripe, red cherries at the top. underneath: "Cherry: I'm feeling pleasure"

classic...

Where did you see that? I would love stationary like that. I am on the hunt at the moment for wacky translations.

"Bimbo-its a cookie like thing-knew students in Seoul that ate a few too many"
Interesting. In Bolivia they have Bimbo Cola.
For some strange reason this didn't entertain me and my brother as much as candy bars called Golpes, which lead to many many bad jokes on our parts that involved phrases like "you've gulped your last gulpe!" They were pretty good too, kind of like Snickers.

Taki- a furniture store- the name is dead on

There's a clothes shop in London, Tooting I think but can't remember where, called 'Taki Casuals'.

One thing I can't get my head around is the drink 'Pocari Sweat'. What is a Pocari, why does it sweat so much, and why on earth would I consider drinking something called 'Sweat' anyway?

A bit off the thread, but I was trying to get my freshman students to do a basic dialogue about wearing clothes. They had to point to other students and say what they were wearing. Anyway one of the guys pointed to one of the girls in the class and said "she isn't wearing panties". I had to cover my mouth to stop from laughing, but then said hadjima, hadjima. The strange thing though was that no body batted an eyelid. In a western country a comment like that would have caused a stir. Korean humour is so different.

I saw this near a subway station a couple of weeks ago. I posted this in another thread, but I now see that it should have gone here:

I understand the meaning of the word "gook", but still, they really really should have asked someone.

The other night at the odeng stand I saw a Konglish shirt like no other.

I can't remember it exactly but roughly it was

" Tyson Fighting
Fucky Strike
Punk
Boxing Mike"

I couldn't believe the second line. Ha ha ha.

101st actually ... I think I was the 100th. Crying or Very sad

That's the problem with this, there are plenty of business names and advertising things back home that are just tacky and dumb-looking enough to pass for bad Konglish over here.

Maybe this should go in the unfortunate name category too. . .
