Well, I've already mentioned my job several times. I don't sharing about my job, cause I'm leaving at the end of the month.

It's a hakwon, and the largest in the neighborhood with over 200 students, so it's financially stable.

Our boss has lived outside of Korea for over 10 years and speaks English fluently. He's also the most honest and kind Korean man I've met, and I've been here almost 4 years.

All of our Korean co-teachers speak English fluently.

The kids are good in the classrooms and I don't really have behavior problems with them. I see every class I teach every day, which is great for learning a foreign language.

We have lots of materials available to use like teacher's books, copy machine, casssettes, etc.

I work Monday to Thursday, and always have 3-day weekends.

I work from 3-8 pm (sometimes to 9, if there's an adult class).

I get housing, round-trip airfare, 1-month bonus, pension, medical insurance, paid utilities, and 1.9 million a month.

I'm happy with the job, the people I work with, and the students. I'm a bit sad to leave, but it's time to get my M.A. in Education so I can better help the students I'm teaching.

I guess people are waiting for me to post.

Over 20 weeks vacation.
12 hour base work week.
Few bad students.
Hundreds of great students.
Can teach classes outside of Freshman English (teaching a literature class now and teaching an introductory computer class next semester).
Plenty of opportunity for overtime if I want it.
They'll sign me out to work at another location all legal and everything.
Reasonable facilities.
Pretty wide parameters on what I can and can't do when I teach.
Big discount on dentist and medical stuff at the university hospital.

I could go forever. . . I love my job.

I like my job because:

I have never had any problems with money.

I have a two room apartment, nice furnishings. The school picks up all utlties except for phone and internet.

My co-workers are kind or just let me do my thing.

my schedule doesn't change

The city I'm in is small enough to feel part of a community and nice clean air. But close enough to seoul so that I can still enjoy the city without living there.
I have 5 weeks vacation

But most of all:
Because of my students. They are funny, cute, kind and generous. I can never stay in a bad mood for long with them around. And life is anything but boring with 1100 teenage boys running around.

I can't complain too much. 2 mil, 18 hours a weeks (I work 3-7 or 5-8:45 depending on day), a decent loft-style apartment with a/c, work is across the street, they pay on time and what they promise. I'm the only whitey. My coworkers are nice and return kindness and respect if kindness and respect is given. My class sizes are small 3-6 students. They're a bit clueless some times on the needs of a foreign teacher and you need to do some of the legwork for visa/lifestyle issues. But given the horror shows out there, I'm pat.

Minds ok, however the pay and the apartment could be better.
8-4pm
20 classes
teaching only 1 grade (second grade, 6 classes of 20 students, 3 times a week each). It's an elective subject.
14 weeks vacation (5 weeks summer, 9 weeks winter) no compulsory vacation classes.
4 weeks of exams (no classes, half days)
1 week school camp (stay home)
6 weeks of oral tests a year ( no classes).
Random days off here and there for various school activities. Classes often cancelled.
A delicious school catered buffet lunch, eaten in the delightful surrounds of the teacher's only lunch room, provided for free of course.
No co-teacher and no interference in what I teach, run my classroom etc.

My job is much like Beaver's, but 16 hours instead.... so like him, I say it's a good job, but not a perfect one, because of the location. I've stayed here for two years in a city about an hour and a half outside of Seoul, and have reached the point where I'm tired of living 2 different lives.... a weekend life (in Seoul) and a weekday life (in my other city). They haven't begun looking for a replacement for me yet, but will soon, as I've given them notice. A good one for beginners... and if anyone wants to have more details about it, they can pm me and I'll give them some info so they'll be ready when applications are needed. Time for me, however, to get back to living one life, doing what I've done here, but in Seoul.

I teach 14 hours a week. But I have to be here from 8:40 to 4:40 pm. When Im not teaching I can do whatever I want (use the computer, read, study, prepare, whatever).

I have 22 classes, 40 minutes but I only teach grade 3,4,5,6 so thats 4 classes I have to prepare per week.

The classes are large, 30-40 kids but they are better behaved than hagwon kids.

The apartment I got is on the 21st floor of a brand new officetel highrise in Kangnam. Its brand spanking new. Clean, with tons of little gadgets like a bidet, a shower with a glass door, etc.

The best thing is how organized everything is. Everything I need I can get easily, like copies, supplies. Its great

as hogwan jobs go, i think i have the rolls royce. so i have to brag about it given the opportunity.

-2.2mil., 5 day week, i teach 23(45min) classes per week, always paid on time
-overtime is 30,000
-14 working days vacation taken at my choosing
-school gives extra 3day holiday in summer paid
-director gives all employees a 100,000 BONUS on Chusok, Solnal, and Christmas
-very organized, brand new office, tons of resources
-freedom to design my own curriculum and choose resources
-no last minute schedule changes, no bull

-school has just moved to brand new building, classes are equipped with tv, dvd, computers to assist teaching
-kids must pass an entrance exam...no dummies allowed
-discipline is not a problem

best part.
-my apartment is brand new 2 bedroom, plus large kitchen, double sink, lots of storage, HARDWOOD FLOOR

-all the furnishing are brand new....
i have 33"TV, VCR, CDstereo, leather sofa, dining table and chairs for 4, large refridg, microwave, aircon, cellphone, double bed, new bedding, new pillows, new towels, corning ware cookware, Tefal frying pans, corelle serving plates for 4 (including bowls, platters and side plates), plenty of cutlery, butcher knives, serving utensils, all the necesary cooking utensils, tupperware packages, kettle, colander, tea cups and saucers, drinking glasses, rice cooker, oven mit, hot plate, toaster, range, cleaning tools
-i didn't need to buy anything when i moved in except food

i live in an affluent area, right next to a small mountainside so lots of fresh air and good people.

do i win? do i win?

Did you notice how short this thread is? Guess why. Great jobs are not easy to come by, and it will take some time of you paying your dues to find something thats better than the usual 1.9mil, 30 hours a week, 3-9, crap haggie job. Took me 3 years to move up. So dont expect to come and just land a 14 hour work week with a month or 2 months vacation. Wont happen.

unless you got some teaching qualifications you're first job is going to suck. If you network well then you can usually move up to a better job at the end of your first contract
