What the bloody hell is going on around here?! I left my apartment today and was walking through a crowded market when this ajoshi accidentally spit on me. He just hocked a loogey and turned around and spit it on my jacket. He was mortified and tried to wipe it off, but I couldn't believe it. I had to use ever bit of strength not to punch him. Then I almost got run over by a motorcycle. This place sucks!

You just need to be anally-raped and your day will be complete.

it was an accident! what's the problem? he obviously apologised. punching someone for an accident is not very nice.

when i saw the header of this thread i thought someone spat on yu intentionally....

btw - i find it interesting that some folks use "spit" as the past tense of "to spit". i've always said "spat". (sorry - don;t want to hijack your thread into a grammar discussion)

hey - let's talk about klingons!

How do you know he wouldn't enjoy that?

I would have punched him, no questions asked.

So if I drive my car recklessly down the road and run a red light, killing some poor kid, that may be an accident, but there was gross negligence. Just like spitting without looking.

It would have solved the spitting problem for 1 person. 1 down, 47,999,999 to go. And don't tell me girls don't spit too. I have seen it numerous times, and it is the biggest turnoff ever.

really - colliding with a bit of mucous travelling at about 10kph cab hardly be compared to colliding with 2 tons of metal at 60kph.

the consequences are what make an accident serious. reacting by punching someone would be a senseless thing to do.

the prevalence of spitting here is mostly realted to the pollution and the cold weather. irritates the respiratory mucosa. a minority of countries in the world find it offensive. you better not go to india - or papua new guinea....

I got spit on in Korea, and it wasn't by accident. I was new to Korea then, and didn't do anything.

If it happened now, the guy would get a loogie hocked right back at him, along with some very loud words.

If it were my last week in Korea, I'd kick the hell out of him and run like mad to disappear before someone caught me. Luckily, I used to run in State Track meet 100m races, and am still darn fast, even though I'm 6'3" and weigh about 220.

Hoju, the point I am making is that people, all too often, do whatever the hell they feel like without thinking of the consequences.

Sure, Koreans are used to being bumped and their feet stepped on, and what the not, but most of them act like they are the only person in the world.

Actually I think the spitting is caused by too much smoking. I would barely call this weather 'cold'. Pollution..yes. Similar effect on your health as smoking.

If you were close to a clothing store you probably could've gotten a new jacket or something out of the deal. I had a guy turn my computer off by mistake in a PC bang. He thought the switch was to turn his PC on, but it was the other way around. He was mortified and went off to buy me an iced tea to say sorry. At least I wan't writing anything important at the time.

Kangnam,

Where are you now?

Still pissed?

Funny, I remember a story my Grandfather told me once back in Canada.

He was walking out of the Safeway and horked on a lady going in and he was also mortified.

He tried to apologize but it was no good.

a little off topic but still damn funny.
I'm riding the ole subway around and am kinda of spacing out cause I'll be on it for around an hour, all this sudden I realize that the old guy i am standing in front of as been calmly spitting on the floor to the left of me. I am disgusted and shift over a couple of handhold things, next time I glance over at him I see him furiously covering up his shirt with a jacket and looking embarrassed he had just spit a wad of mucus down the front of his shirt. Gross yes, vaguely satisfying yes, I always enjoy seeing someone get their comeuppance.
