I try to put unpleasant memories, like being flicked in the balls by a ball flicking kid, behind me. Maybe under hypnosis I could recall, exactly. However, within the last six months, I was nailed in the balls bang on by a 'sticky ball'. What's that? You know, those suction cup balls. Kids can pitch them at the whiteboard where a target's drawn. Well this real evil, witchy-miserable, doom-queen middle schooler aimed directly for. Why did I remember that, damn. You made me remember that. Hope you're satisfied. All for the public good/general information. Moral? They know you've got 'em and anything goes.

I don't think that was an over-reaction . If anything, you under-reacted. That kind of behavior towards a teacher shows an incredible amount of disrespect/stupidity. Think about it. The kid is 12 yeras old. Would you have ever considered doing the same thing to one of your teachers back in the 6th grade? No way in hell.

yu did the right thing... esp in offering to do the same to your boss...

first little shyte that ddong-chimmed me - i came down hard on too... when the boss (a woman) heard of this she told me that ddong-chim is a "korean custom" and that i should not be upset. i asked her to bend over so i could give her a taste of her own culture and she saw my point of view.... she lectured the students about appropriate behavior and i seldom had trouble again....

that is one thing i like about teaching adults... no ddong-chim (yet!)

Shocked

Your situation reminds me of the time the notoriously worst student in the school sucker punched the director in the nuts. I had front row seats for the wind up, follow through, and the bulls eye shot. Shocked The director deserved it and I had to run back to my class and close the door for the laughfest. Let's just say that after that incident I was significantly more tolerant with the brat as a reward for a job well done. Cool

I should invest in a few pairs of handcuffs.

binding their hands behind their backs, duck-taping their mouths closed , and letting them squirm on the floor is a fantasy of mine.

Room 13, Island of Terror, House of Pain, whatever you want it call it. History, so far, has used the atomic bomb to settle things, top end. In a haggie it's 'holding up a chair' (Shudder). Yes, horrible isn't it.

In my experience, lifting rowdy boys up by the earlobes always worked wonders on their dispositions.

I recall several attempts at dong chims, and there has also been a few strikes at me balls. They have all ended with the same outcome: twisting the students fingers until they roll over in pain, dragging them to the corner of the room, and making them do serious exercise as punishment.

There are lines that should never be crossed in a classroom.
I don't care if they are children or if the incident takes place in a foreign country.

Hmm..physically abusing children in the classroom...bet that would go a long way in the West.
