Did you guys see the posting on worknplay.co.kr that is advertising for actors? It's for next month- tv and movies. I just sent my stuff in yesterday, but I got a mailerdaemon report, so I re-sent it. Anyone else into this? Maybe I should be posting this in the job forum, but it's not about teaching English, so that's why I'm on the general discussion board. |

Where does it say English teachers only?
Make sure this is legal. Your E2 visa does not allow you to take an acting job.

Yeah, beware....
You are not legally allowed to work in TV or a Movie unless you fill out the proper paperwork with Immigration. It can be done without much difficulty, but it is ILLEGAL if you don't fill out the papers.
If you apply for one of these jobs, make sure you add a line that you are happy to do it if they help you fill out the proper forms at immigration to make it legal.
Just ask the guys who were on the TV show, "Bul-Say" last summer. Someone from immigration either noticed a teacher on there or was tipped-off that they were a teacher. A quick check found that he was on an E-2 and doing the show without immigration approval. The talent agent on the show who hired the foreigners was a guy named Kim Duck or Kim Huck something. Anyway, I was told the agent ratted out every foreigner on the show when immigration pushed him. I am told some were deported and nearly everyone fined.
This goes for TV and movies. If anyone tells you it's OK with a movie, they're full of it. You still need the proper paperwork. |

its far from easy to get the proper paper work done...
you need an e6 visa to work within the entertainment industry, which is rather difficult to attain. And almost impossible for a one off gig.
I know of people being deported or fined... and by fines I'm talking in the ballpark of 5 million |

Is this for one of those mind-numbing shows where the foreigners are portrayed as simple buffoons to the pre-recorded group "Oohs and ahhhs" of the korean audience? The one that has a host of russians playing americans and revolves around a Koreans stereotypical view of a foreigners world?- ie with plenty of crime and cardboard cut-out stupidity?
Wow, can't wait to sign up:)
I knew a couple of Cnadians doing the english practise show on a 6 month tourist visa... silly plots, wooden acting etc... |

I'd love to get into acting, but not this stupid TV show stuff. It's too bad the theatre troupes are only in Seoul. |

If you really want to get into acting, buy a video camera, record some stuff, get a Cyworld page and put it up there. I hate the mind-numbing shows too and I wouldn't be on them. I was on tv before as a group of 50 foreigners who could speak Korean and we talked about what was wrong with Korean society. That wasn't paid so it was legal. It's possible to go on tv if you have them sign something confirming that it's a volunteer gig and that you're not being paid under the table. |

Was it a hanmail address? That'd explain the reject message. You have to prove yourself to be of the great Han race in order to send email to those addresses. Either that or just get a hanmail address. |
