None of my students now say "CC...nice to meet you!" EVERY time they see me...

Depends.......... on you, the students, how long you are there, etc..

I have had kids go from real beginner basic level to not bad conversational within 6 months, or perhaps a year. Usually they were girls, the smart and clever and studious ones of course. They also usually got help elsewhere, from Korean teachers and/or parents.

It makes you feel like you are doing something worthwhile when you see this jump in ability.

Had a kid in an ABC class who really got it, paid close attention to the association of each sound with each letter, studied hard, was able to spell out or make damn good attempt at spelling out words he'd never seen before, in other words he could really read, most other kids just seemed to memorize words but were stumped when they came across new ones. Very Happy

On the other hand, another kid in the same class had trouble recognising letters even after 2 months. Sad
