Can anyone recommend a good tailor with a good English ability, in Itaewon? I've been offered suits possibly a thousand times, and just assumed those guys would rip me off. I dont wanna have a suit made, just want complicated alterations to clothes.

Anyone know a good tailor ey?

I've heard if you select the right guy--and bargain a bit--you can get great deals there. A lot of guys buy suits there before going home...

London Tailor, opposite the Fire Station. Not the cheapest, but quality a cut above the rest.

I've always heard that Songtan is better for that kind of thing. A friend lives in Itaewon and drives all the way out there for his suits

In Itaewon...an English speaking tailor?!?! You a comedian! Should be on the telly!
Try and NOT find an English speaking tailor! But...all will rip you off to some extent. It's bait and switch. If you KNOW about material and the quality of it...you are safe. But most tailors KNOW that you don't know jack squat about material and they sell you cheap material...low thread count...and tell you it's the best! Get educated on the quality of material and the thread and you'll get a better deal. Have then make and extra pair of trousers with your suit. Always get an extra pair or two or trousers when making a suit.

Can you get long wool topcoats tailored here? Like this...

How much do you think this would set me back?

Perhaps I could get one off the peg. Any suggestions?

My good friend always uses the one upstairs from the Soul Train hip-hop clothing store, near McDonald's. The tailor's shop is split with a framing/matting shop.

They're dead cheap and he's always been really happy with their work.

Skip Korea. Go to bangkok and get a PREMIUM QUALITY suit, Egyption cotton shirt and tie for around $250..... go here or sister shop Raja Fashions on Sukhumvit Soi 4.... and yes I am getting a commission

There's always one who suggests it might be far easier and cheaper to fly to an entirely different country to have a suit made. Rolling Eyes

I'm not suggesting you go to Bangkok for the sole pupose of visiting a haberdasher or tailor. But if you need a suit and you might be in the neck 'o the woods, then you can't do better. While in Thailand feel free to sample the other delights that this great city has to offer.
