ok so every1's been saying that u need at least an MA to get a job at a uni. yes, granted there's the handful that have slipped by the goalie to score a cushy little spot on a local campus where they can drool all over the young supple little college girls, blah blah...
so when ppl say MA, do they mean an MA in TESOL? or an MA in general? i was considering getting an MA, but not a TESOL. more like int'l studies. |

I don't drool - I don't even look at my female students if at all possible. Also it's a little more than a handful since about 60% of the university teachers I know only have a B.A.

M.A. in anything will do just fine. A basketweaver is just as good as a canny linguist. |

What I want to hear is the explanation as to why your avatar has a guy reaching into his computer with his right arm, whilst the recipient of the slap gets hit with a left hand!!!!
Ok, now that's out of the system. Yes, many teachers in the university setting only have a BA, but you've got to have something those with MAs don't...to compensate, of course.
Universities will, especially those in Po-Dunk, will take any breathing BA holder....as long as they deem that applicant sufficient.

I know an MA in anything is the standard but wouldn't something a little more relavent be preferred? I mean, math majors can get an E-2 and teach English but a lot of schools are looking for someone who studied Education or English, aren't they? |

haha.... i dunno man. but i'd put money that it's every poster's fantasy to be able to reach into the computer and slap the other poster in the face....
at least in one point of our posting lives.

it's korea man. rules can be bent if u got the charm and the connections. i think u could wing it enough on int'l affairs. it's pretty reading/writing intensive,, and i'm thinkin about getting it at the uni here. maybe i'll meet some cool dept heads. |
