Have been following the articles in the paper about the popularity of Korean actresses and actors in Japan, and it seems that the females over there are swooning over the star of the Korean movie version of "Dangerous Liasions". He also starred in a TV drama series which was also very popular over there.

Korea is now becoming a top tourist attraction for many japanese ladies.

They only just recently opened up the market for Japanese entertainment to be available to koreans without conditions, so it's my guess the japanese did the same for Korean Entertainment. Koreans took their time in doing their bit to open things up I guess because they felt a little insecure and maybe threatened.

The word theses days is that the entertainment industry is doing more for Korean Japan diplomacy than could any Diplomatic bureacrat or political buisness face saving, money for you and money for me negotiations.

The popularity of Bae Yong-joon and Winter Sonata has been covered here, as well as the ensuing Korean pop culture fascination that has been triggered by it. But I'm too lazy to dig for old threads.

Might be good to a insert the 'I know this is old news, but...' in the beginning of threads like this, just to avert smart-ass responses from myself and others. Confused Wink

its a faze that the rest of the world will be over in a year or two, when another part of the world is making interesting films. HK had its turn, now its Korea... any bets for which country will be next?
