I got Rambo at Walmart for 4,800 won the other day. They had all three there. The rest of the 4,800 was mediocre at best (that includes Rambo 2 and 3)

Any suggestions on where to get cheap DVDs, moderately good selection? I guess Yongsan would be the place. Anywhere else?

Nothing pisses me off like seeing Hollywood movies for 5,000 won and Korean movies for 20,000 won. I suspect this has to do with the movie industries stupid region code.

The logic of the region code system is to create variable pricing. A Kenyan is never going to pay $20 for a DVD when that's a month salary. But how do you sell a DVD to him for $1 and prevent Kenyan DVDs from being re-imported into the USA? Region codes!

So way back when Korea had a much lower GDP, they lumped Korea in with South East Asia (eg Thailand and Indonesia). These third world nations were never going to pay big cash for a DVD like the Japanese, right? Over the years, Korea's GDP has ramped up beyond the rest of South East Asia. So Hollywood DVDs have to be kept at a cheaper price to prevent importing them from lower cost Region 3 economies. But Korean movies pretty much can be kept at a higher price because only Koreans want to buy their movies. Right?

No, not at all. I can vouch for that as I've ordered from that site many a time.

That company also has a brick and mortar outlet at the Yongsan Electronics Market in Seoul, if that's more convenient for you. It is a pretty good selection.

I bought a "special edition" of Dumb and Dumber today in Singil station for 3,000 won. They had DVDs, 3 for 10,000 won, but I couldn't find 2 more that I would ever watch. Then the guy only charged me 3,000 won, for some reason. The special edition is widescreen with surround sound and a few nominal extras.
