The fact I was not in the country for the sven months between contracts kind of stopped me from being able to visit. It looks close on the map, but it take a fair amount of time to get there from where I lived before. I DO like my school, I do like my job, but in my heart of hearts, I know that I want to move. I can do it if I want to and if it doesn't work out for me, then oh well but it may and I might just find out what was missing before.

I used to live in Jinju. Now, if I was to get a contract in a small town somewhere within 40 minutes of it, Id pretty much know what I was getting myself into. When you lived in Ansan, did you not do any travelling? if you are unhappy, then fine, you are unhappy. All I can say is that from my point of view, its a frivolous reason to break a contract.

For chirsts sake give the girl a *beep* rest about the reasoning behind wanting to change her location. I can relate to exactly how she feels anyway. Im in my early 20's and in my second year of living in Jeju. Ive gotton really sick of it here and somedays I feel like ive almost hit a complete roadblock in terms of my emotional development. Even though I'm not getting "screwed over" by my employer in the technical sense I'm still not terribly happy with my life situation and am pretty focing to myself to keep positive and stick it out for the duration of my contract for financial purposes even though I don't like it here and and would much rather be living in a bigger city at this point.

Although I admit that job can a play a big part in one's personal happines it is not EVERYTHING, especially once the novelty effect of being here has worn off. I don't care what you say about going out and meeting forigener drinking buddies in bars or taking taikwondo or whatever. Outside of Seoul, Korea can still seem like a VERY isolating place at times you just becasue you have had no problems adjusting to country life doesn't mean you have a right to tell others to just to "suck it up" and deal with it like an adult.

We are adults are we not? Anyway, I think Ill drop this issue anyway, its getting tiresome.

Hot Scot, the whole logic here has been totally watered down to a male pissing match and all that remains is who gets the last word. He needs it, so let's just let him have it and be done with it.

I can see why you are in this position. I guess you aways got what you wanted. So you see nothing bad about what you are doing. Its all about you. ME ME ME. Same goes for people who disagree with your actions. They are "tiresome" to you. I guess you wanted everyone to pat you on the headand tell you how great you are, boy did you come to the wrong place.

Actually, she just wanted advice on the legal ramifications. Nobody was turning it into a morality issue until you brought up this "honoring your contract" bullshit. I still can't figure out why this thread is all about whether or not it's OK for this chick to leave her job. It should be chock full of information, but instead it's chock full of morals.

As much as I would like to, I am not going to lower myself and get into a slagging match about this. Other forum members have been very kind in supplying me with the information for which I asked. If you can't do this, without judgements, then don't reply, simple as that.
Like my mum used to say, " if you can't say anything useful, don't say anything at all"

Scot-in:

Maybe you read a lot of posts on Dave's and just don't post because you have nothing to offer. (looking at your post history it is really light...and who cares...a heavy history is probably something more to be ashamed of...)

More likely you don't waste as much time here as (us losers) we do.

But when you say you have been here for 6 months (and turns out later for a whole other contract)...if we think about ourselves, that is a lot of "Dave's time". I think you ended up not coming across as a "newbie" (which maybe you are maybe you aren't) but I can see how...

Quote:

I'm going to be leaving my current job in a couple of months, after completeing 6months of my contract. I like my job alot but I'm really unhappy where I am living, so it's not like there have been any problems with school.
My questions is whether I will be given any problems by my school in finding a new job. Are the school obliged to give me a release letter and if they do, do I have to leave the country in order to get a new visa(its in my contract that the visa will be cancelled within 10 days) before I get a new job. Is there any reason that immigration would stop me from taking another job?

In retrospect it was information given to enhance knowledge about the release letter (I think) but really to some it sounded like you are a "princess" and then others felt the need to defend you...hence, your post was officially hijacked...

On another note...I don't know if it is the time of year, (holiday season and all) or what but either everyone is a hell of a lot more standoffish these days or everyone else sure has thin skin...I don't know what it is but the quality of posts has changed and so has everyone's attitude...
(IMHO)
