Here's what I found on Dave's ESL - Catholic Univ. Daegu offer:

- For Bachelor's - 28,000,000 Korean won per year
- For Master's - 28,600,000 Korean won per year
- For Ph.D's - 29,000,000 Korean won per year

That is clear proof that they are not really interested in highly qualified people. It's the same everywhere.

Thats a joke. A whopping 83 000 won a month difference between Ph.Ds and BAs. HAHAH

Its alright pay for a BA but 2.4 for a Ph.D? What a joke.

It really depends what the PHD is being paid to do here....

Example: back in Canada, a teacher with a PHD who wishes to teach at a lower level (ex: HS) receives a 3-4000 dollar yearly bonus on top of the basic salary for a HS teacher. It is not the degree sometimes but the position you occupy.

If, in this example the university is just looking for lectures to teach English then the pay scale reflects this.

If your example is for profs then that is a low salary. Right now, all you posted is a salary scale without any context.

And considering that would include the end of contract bonus it really is only 2.23 for a PhD. Nice Rolling Eyes

Again: It really depends on what the PHD holder was hired to do and on what his position is....
