I think he's going to make money so he's not an idiot but still. It seems weird.
Gamer buys $26,500 virtual land
 Would you pay money for this virtual vista?
A 22-year-old gamer has spent $26,500 (£13,700) on an island that exists only in a computer role-playing game (RPG).
The Australian gamer, known only by his gaming moniker Deathifier, bought the island in an online auction.
The land exists within the game Project Entropia, an RPG which allows thousands of players to interact with each other.
Entropia allows gamers to buy and sell virtual items using real cash, while fans of other titles often use auction site eBay to sell their virtual wares.

| I don't really do any online gaming and know next to nothing about MMRPGs or whatever they're called, so I'd be interested in seeing the business plan that will allow him to recoup 26,000 on virtual real estate. Not implying it can't be done, just curious as to how. |

| I've seen owners or employees of PC Bangs set up computers so that they play against each other, probably 24/7. I guess they do this to build up characters, either to sell or to use to beat players who have valuable items (this would explain why some online games stats show players who played 10000 games without a single win). |

at first I thought the guy must just be some incredible geeked out kid with too much cash, but when you read the story it sounds like he might make his money back- hard to understand but who knows, it might turn out to be worth his while. |
