Korean compound nouns

Location: I get so little foreign language experience, I must be in Koreatown, Los Angeles.

Recently, there was a thread on compound nouns in Korean. I wanted to contribute this chart, but the thread got zapped--probably because of the title of the thread.

I hope we have better luck this time.

�� co-compounds

These are compound nouns in which the components have equal ranking.

�� additives
���� = rice paddies and dry fields
������ = spring and summer
�� = this year and next year

I was surprised that the author of this chart did not mention:
�������� = north south east west
You have probably seen the paper fortune tellers which Korean children make,
which they call ��������'s:

�� antonyms
�ȴٸ� = arms and legs
�ϴö� = heaven and earth
�㳷 = day and night
��ħ���� = morning and evening

�� sub-compounds

These are compound nouns in which the first noun is used as an adjective.

�� identification (�����л� = problem student)
�� clarification (�����Ҹ� = buzzing sound)
�� limitation (�𷡻��� = sandy beach)
�� synonym (��Ÿ� = street)
�� sub-category (������� = apple tree)
�� proper noun (�Ѱ� = Han River)
�� metaphor (�������� = rainbow rice cake)
�� cost for goods or services (������� = postal rate)
�� component of natural phenomenon (����� = drop of water)
�� material of product (���̺���� = paper airplane)
�� part and whole (�ɳ��� = flower tree)
�� distinguishing feature (����� = girlfriend)
�� whole and part (�ʼҸ� = shirt sleeve)
�� location and smaller location (����� = country road) (
�� location and agent (����� = islander)
�� place and deed or event (����� = road traffic)

TIME
�� time and natural phenomenon (���� = spring rain)
�� time and deed or event (�Ͽ��Ϲ̻� = Sunday mass)
�� time and subject (������ = summer clothes)

�� cause and effect (���ְ�ȥ = marrying out of love)

MEANS
�� means and deed or event (���¹��� = water power)
�� means and subject (�ռ��� = handcart)

�� agent and product (��������ǰ = Beethoven's works)

SUBJECT
�� subject and agent (�ýñ�� = taxi driver)
�� subject and means (��ǥ = train ticket)
�� subject and place (�������� = fish market)

PRODUCT
�� product and agent (�ܹ� = honeybee)
�� product and material (���� = rice for rice cakes)

DEED
�� deed and agent (�������� = swimmer)
�� deed and subject (���Ը��� = imported beer)
�� deed and means (�պ�ǥ = round trip ticket)
�� deed or event and place (���� = workplace)
�� deed or event and time (�����ð� = classtime)

Under location and agent, the author of this chart could have mentioned:
�ϴü� = long-horned beetle
One day, one of my students brought in a long-horned beetle and called it a "sky cow."
