I bought a laptop in the US. It has a plug that is grounded (has three prongs) so I need a plug adaptor that is also grounded.

I'm in Korea now. I found the right plug adaptor here
http://traveloasis.com/wa9grounplug.html but they only ship to the US and Canada.

How about cutting off the US plug and fitting the international 2-pin (or grounded 2-pin)?

All western electronics have a three-pronged setup. All I have ever needed was a 2-pronged adapter or new cable. Both are cheap and easy to find. I have also never had an issue with the ground prong missing.

What are "western electronics"?

My US-bought laptop has the typical crappy two-blade US plug.

My UK-bought laptop has the beautifully crafted and safe 3 rectangular-pin UK plug.

My Korean bought laptop has the internantional standard 2 round-prong plug (with side earths).

Chnaging the plug is the easiest.

I found one in Yongsan. It workds well. I just drew a picture of what I wanted and the guy was able to find it for me. Despite the advice given above, it's not okay to use a grounded plug in an ungrounded plug adapter.

"A plug with 2 pins or blades is an ungrounded plug and one with 3 pins or blades is a grounded plug. Usually you can use an ungrounded plug in a grounded plug adapter but definitely not a grounded plug in an ungrounded plug adapter."

It's too bad somebody couldn't post useable directions to a reliable local source of grounded plug adapters. I guess I'll have to wander around Youngsan until I find one.

I might do that as a last resort, but I'd prefer to buy an adapter from VC's source before cutting and splicing a laptop powercord.

Well, the point is it's only a standard cable .... and the laptop will be out of date in 2 years ... why worry about the cable?

If you put an international grounded 2-pin on now you can put the US plug back on later if you need. I have laptops bought in US, UK and here. and I do the same all the time.

Just pull the ground off with some needle nosed plyers. This solves your problem instantly.

I'm already using an ungrounded adapter.

It's part of . It has a sign that says ij̺ A/C. It's near a store named LCD Park. It faces the street.

This is where I bought a grounded plug adapter.
