I don't feel bad about Korean English teachers' wages.

They can teach privates legally

It's illegal for them too, but they won't get deported and have to pay a huge fine, along with the hogwon.

If it is illegal, I doubt very much that they even realize it. I am not up on Korean labour laws, but I doubt very much that Korean hagwan teachers would get in trouble for teaching privates. In fact, the ones who I have talked to about it seemed absolutely shocked when I said it was illegal for me to teach privates.

Maybe they were just shocked that I would know about it. Confused

Isn't it possible that they're not glaring cause of pay discrepancies, but more because of your crappy attitude towards them?

I've been nothing but pleasant to all of my coworkers, Korean or not. The Korean teachers' evil eyes and unpleasant behavior are completely unwarranted. All of the native speakers at my school have felt the cold shoulder as well, so I'm not imagining things.

I'm sorry to hear that about your KTs. Three of the KTs I work with are really wonderful people. Did you say that you're the only foreigner there? Have you tried bringing in some food to share, or asking them about their interests in other countries and how you could help them with questions they might have about work or travel abroad?
