There is no need to use a three-pronged adapter of any kind. Just buy new cables anywahere and the problem is solved.
Anyone rushing to Yongsan to get this special plug because in the West we use a three-pronged, and here is only 2 is wasting their time.
If one wants to know why, read a bit about the system used here. Right....nothing is grounded.....  |

Not my computer, nor my digital camera, nor my answering machine.
You should be able to find the adaptor in a neighborhood "hardware" store. Check out several. |

I might do that as a last resort, but I'd prefer to buy an adapter from VC's source before cutting and splicing a laptop powercord. |
I thought he meant cut off the ground pin! |

Someone seemed to think they needed to splice a two-prong plug onto the ower supply cord. |

Okay, if you have a three prong plug, you have three wires in your cable. Earth, neutral and Live. If you rip out/cut off that Earth pin to make it fit the socket it will work. If you cut whole plug off and buy yourself another one you can fit the plug onto your beheaded cable sure. But now you have another issue: you have three wires coming out of your cable and only two fixings for them. At this stage, hit yourself hard, cut that ground back to nothing and wire in the neutral and the Live.
Simply cutting off the plug to wire it to a two pin plug does not solve the problem of what to do with the Earth and is a very long way round.

i fussed with this issue when i first came here. the person before me generously left me their adapter, but my labtop wasn't going to fit in. so after trying to find a new korean style cord (my labtop has an amp changer thing that can take the korean voltage) to plug into the AC adapter on my computer and not being able to find one that would fit. i was faced with the three options.
1) buy a new HARD to find adapter for three prong plugs. cost = $40
2) cut of ground plug and buy a new cord when i get home. cost = $3 for clippers, and new cord when i get home.
3) drill hole into adapter and create space for ground plug. cost = $3 for screw driver and screw.
i choose option #3. which might seem crazy to some people. but if you have that big ugly adapter like i have, and you open it up you will realise that the bottom of the two plugs has nothing behind it. so with a screw driver, a large screw, and an hour of borring a hole through plastic, i had a hole big enough to allow the grounding prong to fit. i suggest if you use my approach you double check your adapter first and make sure it will work. ...but after six months i have had NO trouble. and i didn't have to damage my cord at all.
