I like to get paid for my privates in a 4 week block sum, not necessarily at the beginning of the month. For example, pay me for four lessons in advance, and if I or the student cancel for whatever reason, its one extra week till paid again. So, normally the mothers hand over that envelope on the first of the four lessons.
Now I know there are pros and cons with this method, as well as other methods such as teachers like to receive at the beginning of the month, whether its for 3 or possible 5 weeks of lessons, depending on how it lays out on the calendar.
Now I'm not saying Moms are dishonest (although I've never had one accidentely pay me early, only late), but do any of you have similar problems with Mom's forgetfulness?

Yes,

I do from time to time. I will do this if they forget.

Me:I won't be available next week.
Mom: Why????
Me: You haven't paid me.
Mom: Oh, wait a minute...................

Works every time

If I were doing privates (not saying that I am) I would go for the daily lesson payment option, that way you know you are getting paid on time, don't feel obligated to come if you have other plans, and don't get that feeling that you are teaching for free.

That's just my personal preference for payment (If I were teaching privates).

I've stopped doing privates but I preferred the payment lesson by lesson because I'm not very good at keeping track of dates and finances and organizing in general. I did have a student that paid montly but his mom never forgot

This reminds me, did you guys ever see that episode of "COPS" where the lady called the police to arrest someone because she tried to buy crack from them and they took her $25 and wouldnt give the crack to her?

The cops were all like, "What, you called us because you got cheated while trying to break the law? Are you on crack? Oh yeah."

Man, I love that show.

I take the 4 week block payment as well

My problem with one mom who has been 'forgetful' on a regular (5 month) basis is that she introduced other privates to me, so dumping her could endanger the entire network. Enough is enough however: in March when her kids are back from Seoul, I'm going to be too busy.
