Most of the local stuff is pretty bad, potentially leading to more than "normal" unwanted effects. I think the Japanese beer may be OK, not sure. It seems to me that most Asian alcohol is just crap. I wonder why they cannot seem to make better stuff. |

Are you crazy? Suntory is EXCELLENT as are most Japanese beers. Even in Korea, OB is quite drinkable, as is Hite ( not my favorite ) and Cass. Soju, while I would NEVER recommend drinking it, won't kill you unless you over do it. I mean it's not like buying alcohol is Russia. However don't EVEN bother with Korea wine. It won't kill you, but it is truely vile. |

Yeah, I trust it in a certain sense. I trust it when I see it in the bottle in front of me, but that trust quickly evaporates as soon as it hits my stomach. Then I can't trust myself either... |

It's the old story of preservatives in Korean beer...don't know about now, but I'm pretty sure they used to have 'em. |

I can't figure out WHY they would need preservatives...
but I guess that is me...
The stuff barely has time to get capped before some ajoshi is sucking on the bottle. |

Beer is like fellatio. Even when it's bad, it's still pretty good. |

You people have never been exposed to Russian beer. Consider yourselves lucky. Korean beer is fairly good. I have had MUCH better, but it is drinkable. |

Stay well away from the soju, unless you're shampooing your dog. The local beer is thin and uninteresting, but otherwise benign. If you're feeling flush on a payday, treat yourself to a Corona or three, widely available even here in the outback. And some places will kick up a decent Margarita, if you supply the recipe. Cheers. |

Japanese - most, pretty good among Asian beers
Taiwanese - crap! Too much formaldihyde or preservatives, headaches!
Korean - was crap but getting better
Thai - Chang, etc CRAP!
Philippines - San Miguel is actually a nice drink of beer and very affordable |

Actually, I have had Russian beer.
Korean beer is better than Russian beer. That is all. |

That's enough!
Actually soju makes a decent punch. But the hangovers are killer. |

I don't think it is benign. The effects are not as pleasant as better beer. |

That's right. Korean draft beer used to give me a nasty hangover after a couple of pitchers. Real draft beer never gave me that problem.

So it can sit in the sun longer, of course.
(that's what they used to do with it, anyway) |

As for the draft beer giving you a worse hangover ... probably. My local doesn't even wash the lines for god sake (probably pretty common).
I know some people who only drink bottles.
Which is what I did last Friday night. Then spent all of Saturday recovering anyway ... |
