Maybe includes qualities like confidence & resiliency too. Since my time in Korea I feel I can walk into almost any situation (or have one thrust upon me) & handle it effectively. I also have a bigger appetite for new challenges.

But I'm not sure the changes I've undergone are Korea-specific. Living in a foreign culture for some good while -- anywhere -- is going to bring out some measure of self-dependency.

Many, myself included, undertook teaching for the first time here too. For me, discovering this vocation has also been deeply transformative in many ways.
