Well it doesn't seem real yet, but I guess I am leaving for Abu Dhabi (UAE) on January 28. After 4 days in Hong Kong (visiting an old buddy teaching at an international school) I will be heading out to Abu Dhabi on February 2nd and will be in the classroom on February 5.

In other news, I got engaged on Saturday night at the Paradise hotel in Busan. She will be staying in Korea to finish out her contract and I will be back when summer vacation starts in June.

Korea has been a blast and I actually wanted to stay here for a few years but it looks like life won't work out that way.

Ah well such is life...

Congrats on the new chapters in your life. Smile

Please drop a post now and then, and shed some exposure to what it's like living/working over there.

Congrats! And what perfect timing for this thread! I just got word that my visa...to teach...elsewhere Wink was approved today.

My head, since the beginning of this month has been travelling further and further away from Korea. Now, it's just completely gone away from it. I am sooooo totally excited for what will lie ahead for me.

If you want to see a great illusion, come to my school. It looks like I am teaching, but really, I am not. Very Happy Very Happy Very Happy

Thats a hard decision.. engaged on Saturday and out to Abu Dhabi two weeks later leaving the fiance for five months! Is she going there next as well?

It was a really hard decision. Our plan was to go to the UAE last year but it fell through because of transcript deadlines, etc.

We decided we wanted to go overseas and Korea was the "easiest" place in Asia. To our surprise we actually ended up loving it here. (Korea doesn't get the best press compared to Japan..too bad)

So I expected to be approved for September when our contracts in Korea were ending. My contract is easy as I had a verbal agreement I could leave with 2 weeks notice and no hard feelings. She is in a public school and we felt she should finish her obligations...

Since my vacation starts in June it is only 5 months...It will suck but such is life. We have known each other for 7 years, though only been dating for 17 months or so...and we are at that age where life is getting more "permanent".

The job is double what I make in Korea and is in my field of interest. Couldn't turn it down, though I was going to, until she encouraged me not to. (and yes, she will be coming there next, though that means a wedding for this August...(married couples only))
