|
|
Well we have a number of interviews lined up for nannies next week, but the one person that I am pretty happy with is a filipina girl, her visa will expire next may, and I was wondering if anyone had any experience with optaining a visa for a nanny etc before. Also wondering what the going rate for childcare would be? Cheers |

As far as I know the only organizations/people who can sponsor non-Korean domestic help are embassies/diplomats. Otherwise she'll have to get/renew her work migrant permit on her own.
More importantly, is she hot? If so, feel free to refer her to me for additional work. |

| What about military or service members? And how could she go about getting a migrant visa herself? |

Negative. No way to get her sponsored in any relation to SOFA.
As for getting the migrant work permit (or whatever the hell they're calling it these days), I'm assuming that they have to be hired by a small-medium sized business.
See, technically many of those ads you see online or in the Seoul Classified ("Filipina with work visa looking for babysitting job.") are not correct . It is true that migrants are now able to seek their own employment to some degree, bu it is still limited to certain fields and I don't think housekeeping/babysitting is included.
Realistically, if she overstays her visa and works for you as a live-in, it's highly unlikely that anything would ever happen (unless one of your local kimchi neighbors has a beef with you and calls immigration). When it's time to go back to the PI she could just go back during any of the many no fine/no jail amnesty periods (which from what I hear is almost always in effect these days as long as they are not caught). |
