Thats the first time I've heard a smoker say that -- good for you. anyway, I thought you said you have allergies... quitting would make a world of difference healthwise quite quickly for you, wouldn't it?

Anyway, I wish all you smokers luck in quitting in 2005. You know you want to....

I've only been smoking for a couple of months, and relatively lightly as long as I'm not on the sauce(10 a day or less, goes up to 20 upon the entrance of alcoholic beverages). The allergies started up in my late teens.

I actually wanted to quit this week, but I had a class all week that literally made me crave a cigarette to get my nerves down. That finished today, so I'm aiming to make the current pack the last one.

I've a solid pack a day habit so the price hike puts the cost of my habit up to 17,500 a week. I can live with that...(I'll die because of it but until then I'll live with it!)

I just really enjoy smoking. I'll give up when I don't enjoy it anymore.

Not to sound like a broken record (I've posted this in other threads), to those of you thinking about quitting, pick up Allen Carr's The Easy Way to Quit Smoking (http://global.yesasia.com/en/PrdDept.aspx/pid-1002637096/did-155/code-w/section-books/)
I quit over 7 months ago just 2 hours after I finished the book. Since then, I've recommended it to a couple of friends, who have both quit, and in turn have gotten a couple of their friends to quit too. If you really want to quit, get this book. You won't regret it.

Good luck!

2500 for "Marlboro Lights" now. Damn, in Vietnam I got cranky to pay more than a buck!

Got interested after hearing Dutchman say it cured his incurable habit. Day 9 and things are looking good.

If the intention is to deter kids from taking up the habit, then it's a good thing. Cigarettes are absurdly cheap in Korea, and almost every 20-year-old guy I see on the Uni campus is smoking his brains out, along with the accompanying expectoration. Less smoking, less spitting; some day, Korea will actually resemble a civilized country.

Glad to hear it. Actually, it was a post by Dutchman that turned me on to the book. Never met the man, but am eternally grateful...

I haven't read the book, but I found that a prescription of Zyban essentially neutralized my craving for tobacco. After smoking for thirty years, I haven't found the necessity to pick up a cigarette for more than two months. I'm chomping down more peanuts, but my lungs love me more. Frankly, you'll like your own self more if you get clear of the tobacco habit.

Glad to hear you managed to kick the habit. However, if you're still fighting urges/situational triggers or using cigarette substitutes, I'd still recommend the book. After reading this book, you don't want to smoke, you don't need any drugs to help you quit, and you don't need any cigarette substitutes. Allen Carr just explains in a very simple, logical way, how ridiculous smoking is. Once you see it that way, you have no desire to smoke again. It's not a fight everyday. It's a non-issue.

Good luck!
