Well, concerning that very annoying one button mouse, you can buy a Microsoft Optical mouse with 2 buttons on the top, 2 on the side and a wheel for use on a Mac. I also like certain Microsoft keyboards better also and they too are compatible with Macs. But it would certainly be annoying to spend all that money on a Mac just to discard the mouse and keyboard and purchase the ones that I like better as add ons.
Still, that new iMac where the entire computer is in the LCD display is fascinating to look at. |

Like I said: 12 years of Mac ownership, not a single performance issue that I couldn't solve in a few minutes at my desk, occasionally with someone over the phone. No viruses. Ever.
re: mouse buttons & fragging the red team--If I wanted games, I'd buy a game machine. |

Exactly! If you don't play games, you should stay the hell away from PCs. I use Firefox because most of the security holes where you get crap on your computer come from... you guessed it, Internet Explorer! There was one IE6 hole discovered 2 weeks ago that let people executive command functions from a script on a web site. As a test, you were instructed to click on a link at a web site that broke the news about this security hole. After you clicked the link, you got a new directory on your computer. Oops.
Yeah there are awesome console games, but you'll never see a good MMO or RPG on a console. That's why I'm sticking to PCs when it comes to gaming. |

I asked my camp students today to write about their favorite toys. Some asked if a computer was a toy. I said "if you play games on it, it is a toy."
Way back when, after getting my first Leading Edge computer, I soon excised all the games, once I figured out how damn addictive and what a time drain they were. I suppose games are fine for some people, but for me they are hypnotic, and soon useful hours have evaporated.
I was very tempted to bring back my first generation IMac from the States this year, but I couldn't figure out how to do it without some damage. I yearn for a Mac- maybe later this year.  |
