two nights: Saturday and Sunday in Hongdae at two different clubs. It's their first time ever in Korea. Anyone who is into anything heavier: punk, thrash, noise rock, metal should check out the most infamous of Japanese underground rock bands.

Thanks for posting this!

I'll be there on Sunday. Are advance tickets available, or is that not necessary?

Dammint, great weekend for my cash to be low... GREAT.

Still, I'm gonna have to try for the Saturday. And by the way "Rocktiger", the band opening on the Saturday, is hilarious... I'll go 30% just to see them again!

Now I just gotta start hassling Polysics (my favorite Japanese band -or of any country for that matter) to get on over here.

also-my friends saw that opening band JET ECHO and they're supposed to be really good. from what i could gather from the description, they were a heavier 'mama' era nomeansno kinda thing, but i wasn't there.

i thought i am wrong might get the nomeansno reference. others may too. did that band ever play korea? they've played everyfreakingwhere else in the world.

haha...of course I got the NmN reference. I'm glad someone got the reference from my name. NmN go to Japan all the time but I don't think they've ever been to Korea. I was even thinking about going to Japan to see them sometime if I could work it.

Anyways, I'm not sure if I'm going to the Saturday show or the Sunday show but I'm thinking that it'll be the Saturday show because I work in Suwon at 8:30 am Monday morning.

actually, that's the one thing I don't like about Korean...the lack of a decent music scene. I don't mind hip hop but it's getting incredibly tedious as the dj's have no depth to their collections, no real dj skills and always seem to throw in Christina Aguilerra and whatever other shit they have lying around. I really hate Asian pop music...well....all pop music.

If you take a look at Pollstar or something you'll notice that Japan has an ubelievable and amazingly diverse music scene and I wonder why this hasn't happened in Korea? I actually met one K girl who listens to indie rock and shit but that was pretty random and rare.

Very true. Back home I could just hang out with friends and learn about a great band every time we hung out. Here I've got a handful of stuff that I've found and like, and I'm embarassed to admit liking half of it. I'm not terribly picky about music, but ballads and pop-hop don't really catch my ear.

maybe it was my buddy's girlfriend, she has better musical taste than most of the people i know back home. as far as modern culture goes, korea is a stylistic and thematic vacuum.

So a friend played me some Melt Banana last night and it sounds like a Japanese noise band. Is all their stuff like that, or do they vary it up a bit?

Tempted by the Sunday show, but it's so damn hard to rock out proper when you know you've gotta throw on the khakis and trudge to work the next morning... Crying or Very sad ... Wah.

I heard the Sunday show is earlier. Better venue apparently as well. All grapevine stuff...noticed that no times nor locations are posted here.
