Take it as a compliment that people stare at you. They're just curious, after all. You should know that by now. You sound like a newbie yet you've been here five years? Maybe it's time you move on if it annoys you so much.
Sorry, but I had to say this... |

So, you can't have any complaints, you must love everything about Korea and Koreans, or it's time for you to move on. How infantile ... |

I think, if I were famous, I'd be one of those famous guys who punches paparazzi and breaks their cameras.
There are certain levels of attention I enjoy, but being stared down by a cock-eyed ajeossi with a lung infection ain't one.
Anyone who would take something like that as a compliment would have to be a complete and utter dumbass, I think.

Nahhhh... Shawner's just ribbing him because someone made fun of him for "sounding like a newbie" because he's still excited about how cheap things are here. |

about to finish my second year and right now rating it an 8 or 9 probably so high due to that im leaving and really appreciating what ive had and have got.
Ive had a good school and really found my niche. recently spent time travelling around the south, yosu, tongyong, goeje. also went to the DMZ today. Seoul is a great city and transport is cheap. Loads of cool places to visit and a really interesting culture and people to constantly try to work out. i feel so cool and proud that ive lived and explored somewhere so different than England and found out about it. its been a great experience |

The things that I like about korea, I've had to work hard to like. I've had to put in effort, to get results, to like them.
Very little has just hit me as being instantly lovable.

Today was a bad day: 5/10
Usually I'd say 8/10
Though I've had many 9/10 days. |

I feel about 7/10 that way, about 8/10 of the time. The remaining 2/10 of the time, I feel 10/10 that way. |

IMHO it all depends on the mood you're in.
Getting stared at in the street? Take it as a compliment! What harm is it doing?
Get told "teacher very handsome!" or "Why aren't you married?" - ditto.
Someone asks you where you're from? - They're being friendly and showing some interest. It's a lot better than a kick in the plums, which a foreigner might have to fear in some parts of the world.
If you're easygoing and resist the urge to become jaded, it can easily be a 9/10 or 10/10 place.
Bonus: the PC here is happy to let me install Limewire and download as much music as I like. So I'm sitting here with my headphones on, rockin' away. It's a good day. |
