I am in the process of applying for my visa, but it hasn't come through yet. I think I might need to make a wire transfer before I have my E-2. Has anyone successfully sent home cash without a visa? Or buying a money order?
I guess if it's not possible I can get my buddy to do it, and give him a little something for his trouble. I would rather do it myself, though. |

I believe a Korean can send up to 10,000,000 won - no questions asked. If you have a Korean friend; ask them. |

I've wired money before going to immigration to process my ARC. I had a visa, but the teller didn't look at it. I just needed my passport. |

Yeah, you don't need a visa to send money, just passport. |

Before I had a bank account or a working visa in Korea, I sent money home a few times by money order. It was no problem. All you need is your passport.
Go to the KEB Bank. They can make up a money order in whatever currency you need. The fee is 5000won (or it was then). Then take it to the post office and mail it express (you won't have a choice, if they know what it is they'll make you send it express). It costs 14 000won. |
