near the end of my contract. has been a cool pretty easy running second year. however, i had a one month break in the middle in october so was told my visa would be extended by one month which i said was cool and no problem. i ve kept asking about my visa being extended and yesterday my boss spoke to me and said a new teacher was ready so would i finish end of deb instead as that is what my contract originally said.
i said he was out of order since we spoke and agreed (looking back i should of got it in writing at the time). its just that now i feel ready to finish end of march. im happy with korea and my time here and obviously its a months extra cash. anyway after the conversation he said he would renew it next month. im thinking though i should pressue him to do it straight away just so its sorted and i know for sure.
a thing that really bothered me recently was another teacher who is more of a permanent resident in korea had always said he planned to stay for longer than a year and is married here and a month before the end has now been told he cant renew due to apparently some students complaining about his accent. i thought that was well out of order.
its like for the whole year he's never really expressed any problems or anything really. he's been totally detached from everyone. im thinking do i really pressure him to sort out my visa immediately. since im saving well i want this extra month and hence this extra million wan i could save while enjoying life here.
just wondered what you do and your feelings to your boss? mine have been totally positive until these recvent instances. now im thinking if i come back again i will get everything in writing and go with a policy of sadly never trusting unless its written down. i think i was too trusting. but it could still sopefully go in my favour |

If you had a survey on this question with "yes" and "no" as the possible answers, I believe you will get a big fat "zero" with "yes".
Hagwons are a business and will save money where possible. When has a boss overlooked something and apologised? When has a boss willingly done anything to help you without you fighting and getting very angry about it? How many bosses honour their word? And so on.
Let me know if I am wrong, and that there are people who trust their boss. |

I trust my boss to follow his beliefs and culture. He may believe what he is doing is right even though it clashes with my beliefs.
I used to think he was dishonest until I new Korea more. Now, I know he is dishonest...wait...no....oh ya...he is just following his own culture. |
