And now for my second thread. I was gone from July until January and now I live in Gangnam. Every time I get on the line #2 it was been mercifully devoid of people, even at around 9pm. After getting on it a few more times it hasn't been crowded once.
Dare I believe that something has been done about the crowding, and that taking it from now on will be all pleasure and no suffering? |

In my experience, Line 2 is sparsely populated in some particular sections of the loop, while in other sections it's a giant sandwich and you're the salami. |

In the morning if you get there at the right time, you don't quite feel like a sardine....but around 8 am....holy cow! I also find if you walk down to car number 1 there aren't as many people. This of course is at Sadang Station. When you hit Gangnam a bunch of people get off...only to be replaced by more....but Seolleung Station clears most people out. Coming home in the evening I would say you are right, if I go to the COEX for something, between 8:30-9:00 there aren't many people on the train. Earlier at around 6:30-7:00...its pretty crowded. |

I live by Shindorim Station, and my daily 9 AM experiences there lead me to believe that its line 2 platform is certainly among the worst places on Earth.
Seriously, the crush of people simultaneously transferring between either line 1 or 2 at one of the busiest junctions in Seoul is ridiculous. The layout of the station is decent enough, but it's basically like a big, uncontrolled intersection. And people like to sprint through it, thus creating a 200+ person scrum for me to pinball through every morning. Really, they need some traffic lights inside that place.
So yeah, line 2 has its nasty parts. I was surprised to see there were sparse parts, actually. |

Shindorim is an 'island' platform on line 2, is it not? Same with Samseong, which is one of the busiest stations on the entire subway network (think it's the second busiest according to the subway website). They could do with opening up platforms on either side of the tracks to alleviate some of the crowding on the one platform, but that would be pretty hard to do and keep the service running. |
