due to a series of events which i've posted in another thread, i have to go on a visa run which could take anywhere from a few days to a week or so. what is the cheapest option available, after taking into consideration the cost of the flight, and the cost of living (modestly) for such an amount of time?

Does it have to take a minimum of a few days? If you're willing to do it in one day, I think the one-day Osaka run would be cheaper than anything else, because as long as you're not paying for a hotel, you only have to pay for the flight and transportation to and from the airport. Even if you can stay a lot more cheaply in Bangkok or Taipei, I don't think it matters because the flight down there will be so much more expensive.

In that case I'd say Bangkok if you can get a good deal on a plane ticket. Taipei might be a bit cheaper to get to, but hotels and other expenses are more expensive there.

You could go to Japan by boat and stay at what is the equivalent of the Korean JimJjilbang (24 hours saunas type bath place). I am told it is very cheap.
