Never lend anything you really like to anyone. I treat my DVDs, CDs, and books like newborn babies, but the discs I rent I throw around the room like frisbees. Chances are, even if he is your mate, that copy of Legally Blond 2 is being used as a beer coaster as we type.

I considered marrying a Korean girl before but it's better for me not to.

This sounds funny! Laughing But what do you mean exactly? Better not get married, period? Or just better not marry a Korean? If the latter, sounds like you've got some kind of system for assessing the women of the world by nationality -- those likely to cramp Mithridates' style, and those not. Seriously though, do mean that the way it sounds?

Hmm, what did I mean? I think I meant that it's better for me not to get married in the first place. There's a part of me that protests the thought of staying still for years and years, and I wasn't completely in love with her anyway. I would still be together with her if she had stayed in Korea though. She lives in Sydney.

Get a McDonald card. You get 1 point for each 100 won you spend. I think you get a set meal for free w/ 35 points?

Not eating at MCDonald's would be a better way to save money. I can't remember the last time I went there. I'd rather get a roll of kimbap and some soup for the same price. Yes, I'm getting old.

Start a blog. Write honestly and attract a following. Then write a book about living and teaching here. Sell them on your site. I'm up to 400 copies sold (though maybe just 30 were actually sold to people in Korea...thank God for Australia and NewZealanders who like to read apparently). And that's without a proper publisher.

This is true. Write honestly. It's easy to write honestly if you have the will to do it. Often there are too many old habits getting in the way. The need to put on airs or look better than you do, avoid responsibility and look better than you might actually be...kind of like what people do on a resume but manifested outwardly. People appreciate honesty and respond well to it.

More on water:

I refill the 2-liter bottle at work, then I bring it home and put it in a jug in the refrigerator. Add a couple of slices of fresh lemon...adds flavor & cuts out the bottled beverages.

The Two-for-1000won Sam-ga Kimbap packs.

Reasonably healthy, very tasty and stupidly cheap.

And skip breakfast. That's what I do. It became a pain having to squirm on the bus into Seoul, wanting to pinch -- and I never could go when I finally arrived.

This only makes you eat more at lunch. It is not healthy.

I guess that's why there are so mant obese muslims with high blood pressure: Ramadan.
