Some folks thrive in nightmares, I guess.

You know, this is the most dead easy job in the ESL business, I dont know why it gets crapped on so much.
For me, and this applies in any country really, food service industry. I have never seen people treated so subhumanly.

Maybe it's the kid in me, but I still would like to drive a train for a day. I have a hard time thinking of a subway engineer as a bad job.
But yeah, food business here -- I spent a decade in the food business, and I feel for the poor schmoes here. |

| I actually had fun working in the food industry. I've always liked cooking, even fast food "cooking." But, yeah, people are real a--holes to people in the food industry. When I was in college, I worked in the cafeteria and we were treated horribly...mostly by the visiting preachers and clergymen. Nobody can treat a person worse than a preacher can. |

Having done that, I agree. That's worse than a 15 year old kid working the grill at Mcdonalds. |

I have had a lot worse. The only thing that really sucks is some of the Korean bosses you end up working for, and the really limited holidays. The pay is not spectacular, but it is also not a really stressful job in itself and the amount you can save or spend on luxuries for yourself is marvelous.
Jobs I'd really hate to do:
Be one of those poor riot police guys freezing their nads off outside Yongsan gate or some politicians house in the winter or sweating nads off in the summer.
Cart Ajumma or Ajoshi. Probably the worst job in Korea- sometimes when a student is being particulary lazy over a very long period of time and has a bad attitude, I ask them if they want to do this job?
Working in a fast food place-though that must rate as one of the worst jobs in any country.
Being the guy who tortures dogs to death to make the meat more tasty- possibly worse than rubbish ajoshi or ajumma.
Food delivery driver. I've now seen two involved in semi-serious accidents, the life expectancy of these guys must be short.
Yoghurt lady. Mostly on account of those revolting yellow uniforms they wear- they make rotten Ronnie employess look great by comparison.
Supermaket veggie seller- They dont even have the 'benefit' of those tapes that the annoying bongo veggie sellers have.
One of the old women who boil up pigs brains, skulls, testes, spines around Nagwon arcade to make into sundae. I almost vomit every time I walk past their foul stench zone. They also cough all over that food and probably gob in it too.
Sundae, bondeggi, live wiggling octopus or soju tester for Korean ministry of food hygiene. I think I have a new number one 'worst job in Korea' with that one.
Being an English teacher isn't all that bad. |

I wonder why there is an old guy sitting in that booth in front of many apartment buildings. He waves hello, hits the button to raise that bar to let the cars in and out. Then he watches TV or even dozes off. Some don't even seem to have a TV. And I have not seen any reading. Even the Korean boss did not know why they are there.
Is he meant to be security? |

What's wrong with being a toll booth person. That'd be great. You got your little booth. You're always doing something so the time passes.
I'd like to be the PC bang guy. The one who sits around all the time and takes your money.
I wouldn't mind being a dancing girl either. Mind you I might stand in front of the mirror all day and stare at myself.
Steel box man would be great. Hoon around the city all day. Brill fun.
Apartment security guard. You even get a little TV. Cool bananas.
Oh... This is jobs you wouldn't do? |

They might not! With the amount of food poisoning going on they dont do a lot. Read the food poisoning thread. I've been ill myself with the squits recently and I know a whole lot of other people who've got sick recently. Perhaps the food hygiene people have all been killed off. |

Here are some of the worst jobs I've ever had;
1. Beverage counter attentant at a health club.
2. Stripper
3. Stripclub Bouncer
4. Supermarket Janitor
5. Quality Control Specialist at a chemical factory.
Here are some of the worst jobs I've ever had IN KOREA;
1. Telephone Teacher
2. Passing out pamphlets on the street
3. Telecommications work.
4. Car Salesman
5. Marketing/ Promotions department of a Korean company
I can honestly say that being a teacher has been more or less a calling for me. I don't know why it is knocked down all the time. |

I find this very hard to believe. Not saying it isn't true, but a subway driver making 4 million won per month?
