Another one set in America.
Haven't caught the name yet but in 2 nights has already provided me with more laughs than a whole season of love story in Harvard.

And the Korean guy can actually speak English pretty well.

A crazy Ajumma makes me laugh as she goes around speaking Konglish and confusing everyone.....she plays here roll well.

I don't s'pose you know if they're going to show the reruns on Saturday or Sunday like they sometimes do? I completely missed the America part of the Harvard story, but my masochistic tendencies are urging me to check out this new one...

It's called "Sad Love Story". The Korean guy supposedly went to high school in California. His accent is good.

What's with all the mean professors in these dramas?

Another Korean drama apart from this one has re-located from Korea to the States.

It's about an older woman who falls for a foreigner in Korea. Then he asks her to marry him and move to the US and she agrees on the bizarre condition that her friend/sister (haven't worked it out yet) can come live with them too.

Funny Konglish aplenty.

It was on 11-12 last night.

Wait...are we talking about the same one!!

The sister is blind as well,(but pretty good looking). i can't remeber her name. Kim Min Jung(???)

At least the writers and the directors have a sense of homour on this one. I could relate so much to the looks on some of the foreigners faces.

Like last night in a scene.

Korean: You play guitar i dance
Foreigner: What???
Korean: watchy, playee, dancee.
Foreigner:Yeah, I play here
Korean:I dancee good.

Couldn't stop laughing.

I liked the (American) woman in the department store who greeted the Koreans with "hello, please come on in"

And of course the fellow (husband) is portrayed as a total Pri k you know what I mean. The money is running out and for taking some food to the neighbour, we get him beating her screaming "When did you start fu (having intercourse with) the neighbour?" Of course that wasn't subtitled.

Later in the same show he beats the tar out of her again for being nice to the mailman because he delivered another package to the blind girl from her boyfriend in Korea.

If you don't mind me saying, no wonder we are getting strange looks in the street. I mean a whole lot more people watch TV than attend hogwans!

anyone know anything about the drama called "Ireland" or something like that. I've never seen it but apparently it's about a Korean girl who was adopted by an Irish family and brought up in Ireland.
Her father then turns out to be a 'terrorist' (naturally!). And our Korean heroine gets pulled between staying in Korea, to carry on her family's ancient of art of Kimchi making or going back to join the 'struggle' ... I just made that last bit up actually
But I'm still interested to know more about the show ...

Ok now I am going to show my age here but are the Korean dramas any more far-fetched than say perhaps the whole "Who shot J.R. or Bobby" from Dallas or anything on say ER or Chicago Hope? I mean there are love triangles and implausable scenarios there too.

Ok maybe that is the scotch talking it is Robert Burns Day afterall. I mean yes we are being portrayed as the evil ones all the time and it is also true that the writers would get lynched if they tried the same stereotyping and portrayls on North American TV. This is what happens when we have minorities in a country and actually treat them as equals.

Here we are the minorities and there is little doubt that while we are "wanted" here we are not always "welcome" here. The Tv producers don't give a damn about offending us because we don't amount to anything here. We are just guests here and therefore they write the dramas to suit the tastes of the Koreans even if the writing is distasteful.

Well I will just live with it I guess there is little I can do about it. Fun to complain about but that is about all. I don't see KBS changing the way they portray us based on the rantings of a few people on a chat board. I mean that NEVER (or is that NAVER) happens eh?

At least the foreign girls are damn hot in this one.....they haven't pulled any nice Korean talent yet though.

The blind girl(whos bloody name I keep forgetting) is Ok but I want some yummy yummy.
