Can I open a P.O. Box in Seoul to have my mail forwarded? What are the rates, if anyone knows? Thanks in advance.

Why don't you just use your school's address?

Silly me...you're doing privates, right?

Yes, you can get a post office box. I'm not sure how to ask for it, but the address will be something like:

City Name ü 缭 Box number ȣ

I don't know the rates.

I don't want the people at work going through my mail, and finding out who I'm getting mail from (creditors, prospective employers, or even Grandma!)

I don't like schools rifling through my stuff. Also, I was thinking that if it was cheap I could have a central address in east-south asia that I can access even after (if? Smile ) I leave S.K.

P.S.: No privates here. I like and value my job and plus I do enough ESL during the week. No wish to do more in my meager spare time.

I believe there is a new business in Itaewon that is like a Mailboxes etc. It is down by McDonalds and is owned by a foreigner.

You do know that Mailboxes, etc is truly evil? (I think in the US they are all The UPS Store now, but their business practices haven't changed at all.)

1. They sell postage stamps at above face value and then deny it.
2. Once you get a PO box there, you can never get your mail forwarded by the US Postal Service to somewhere else. (When you go to close the box.) Obviously, this is because the USPS doesn't appreciate the competition.

Of course, these only apply in the US, and I don't know if you can get your mail forwarded in Korea at all. But it is a chain I choose NOT to do business with.

Ok, I will relent and share two good things:
1. They can make custom boxes and packaging, much like you can get at post offices in Korea.
2. If you will be in Korea (or anywhere) for a good long while, they will forward your mail to you there...for a steep price. But if you don't want people to know you are abroad or to know your address abroad, this could be a soulution.

I said it was LIKE a Mailboxes Etc. Just using an example to give people an idea of what the business is and I don't want the guy to get any bad press out of it.

The thing with the stamps, there is a reason why they sell them for over the "cover" price. The USPS does not give them any kind of discount on the stamps, even if they buy them in bulk. I worked at a mail store (not the evil Mailboxes Etc.) and they did the same thing. Remember, these people have to make money too. They are not in business just to be nice.

With any product, you are always better off going to the source than to a middle man.

I understand it's a business and WHY they have to overcharge on the stamps...but they denied to me they were adding a service change. Also, I needed some odd denominations that they didn't have, and they insisted I buy the next highest denomination. (It's a long story, but I didn't have any options at that point!)

So, I choose not to use this business or any other one that adds a service charge to something I can get at face value.

I hope the business model is different at this place.

Really funny that they denied over charging on the stamps. I mean don't they say 34 cents on them (how much are stamps now???) I would have gotten pissed off too.
