Easy to fix.
First of all, you can go to the bank and change your pin number. Easy.
Go to work tomorow and tell them you are not working unless they give you getter housing. One room per teacher, so two of u should get 2 rooms.
SOMEONE at the school should be able to understand english. They can sure understand that you will not work.
You dont have a contract with the public school. SO, go tomorrow and find other jobs. It may take you at the most a week. You are here. You do not have to stay at that school.
2.0 is fine if you have good hours, good benefits, and a good apartment.
2.0 and the 2 of you living in one room..........adios. |

Most Public School Jobs do not offer housing - They ARE offered more to Teacher who have been here 1-3 years - WHO HAVE THEIR OWN HOUSING........
Qutting the job .... the School Principal for whom you are employed will have you BANNED from teaching at another Public School...

Idiot........ 2 rooms - housing????
These Public School Jobs do not offer housing - THEy ARE NOT FOR LAMER TEACHERS LIKE YOU - they are offered to Teacher who have been here 1-3 years - WHO HAVE THEIR OWN HOUSING........
2nd - try quitting the job .... the School Principal for whom you are employed will have you BANNED from EVER working in Korean Again!!!! dO YOU THINK a GOVERNMENT school does not work in COJOINTLY with a Government OFFICE such as Immigration........
IT AMAZES ME - that we have such BIG experts on this site... offerring ALL their BIG ADVICE - such as YOU and EFL-LAW (a few drop out lawyers established in a small office in Japan) who think they know ALL...
well my advice is - (1) GO work for the HaGWON AND GET 2 - 2.3 MILLIOn AND LET THE director POCKET 10-15 milllion per month from YOUR HARD Work -
or
GO get a REAL JOB teaching Public School Students - OPEN 2 Bank accounts and SEE that the money being paid in - JUST covers YOUR Salary, your CO-KOREAN Teachers Salary, TAX etc - and THERE IS NO 10-15 MILLION WON Profit per month being made OFF YOUR HARD WORK.........
MUCH BETTER DEAL IF YOU ASK ME............... |
Mr.Smarty pants, I work at a public school and I have my own bank accounts. No one other than me and my wife have access to any of my accounts. PERIOD.I propose that you are a recruiter who is trying to lie to everyone.
As for housing I am in a place in very expensive highrise building in the heart of the most expensive district in Seoul, in the most expensive dong in Kangnam. Housing provided. So, it seems to me, that you are just blowing hot, ignorant air.

| I'm in this situation too. I thought if I had any problems that I'd just go to the bank before pay day and change the PIN and get a bank card. Of course, that would probably get me banned from working in Korea forever. So far I've had no problems. I get paid on time every month and I get exactly the right amount. It's been a great job. First time in my life I actually have enjoyed working. Public schools rock. |

I have my own bank account that has nothing to do with my hagwon. All I had to do was show the teller my ARC and I was done in 15 minutes.
But the OP is getting screwed and screwed big time. |

After reading that, I went back and looked at Mr. yesterday's posts. And you know what? Most of his posts are supportive of the schools and dismissive of teachers. He even slams EFL-law andmakes the common threat "you will be banned from ever working in Korea again". Sure sounds like a recruiter. Doesn't even write like a native speaker. |

If the recruiter has your pin number and you don't know it....then you can't change it. I have a friend who was in this situation....she tried to go to the bank and was told she needs the old pin to change the number. The recruiters who do this know what they are doing....they aren't going to make it easy for you to just cut them off. Bottom line she had to get the recruiter to give her the pin number and the passbook....granted my friend refused to pay the monthly fee...so the account was inactive. She went directly to the school and gave them new bank info and asked them to deposit her money into this new account. Of course she no longer works through this recruiter. |

| That doesnt make sense. If you had a lot of money in your own bank account but forgot your PIN for some reason, that means you have to forfeit your money to the bank? I don't think so. They have to give you a new PIN if you give them your ID, I would assume. |

I was there the day my friend went to the bank. And they did not let her change the pin. She had to get the passbook and pin from the recruiter. Perhaps your sitation is a little different than hers. Her recruiter kept both the pin and the passbook. If you forget your pin of course you don't have to just abandon your money....but you do need the passbook. If you have neither you aren't allowed to access that account. She had tried to close the account, when they said no that is when she just asked the school to change her deposit information. But like I said...perhaps your situation is different than hers. |
