I often want to watch some obscure song film or a tv show. I'm sure someone out there must have them on their PC especially when kazaa claims to have 2 million of so online. How do go about finding them? Does anyone know how to change country or change the super node thingy so I can choose a country which is more likely to have the particular movie or song?

The only help you need is for someone to examine you thoroughly to see why you are still using any incarnation of Kazza.

Edonkey/Overnet and Exeem are all you need. Exeem is having some growing pains, but I think it's got a future.

I have heard some good things about WinMX, though i don't use it. I also never got into BitTorrent stuff, as I really didn't like (and in retrospect, well-thought) the trackers.

Kazaa Lite is great for downloading songs quickly. Edonkey can take awhile to get one started.

I have read other people make similar comments about trackers. Why do you dislike them? I don't really know too much about what they do. Embarassed

I can honestly say I think the trackers are a good idea on Bit torrent. Otherwise everyone selfishly just clicks off once they have done downloading. Private trackers make it necessary to maintain a decent download/upload ratio. I personally see no harm in seeding a file once I've downloaded it so others can get it too. Sort of like a "scratch my back and I'll scratch yours" thinking.

Plus having used all the abovementioned p2p software, Bit torrent is the best by far. As far as speed goes it's fantastic, and no more "fake files" are wasted downloding either. You know how the MPAA and others actually pay companies to mislabel movies, etc. so people will waste their time downloading something and find out it's not that at all. It happened to me MANY times on Grokster, Kazaa, Morpheus and WinMx. And there is no spyware either which is great. Anyway enough said.........

I used to dislike bot torrents too, until I found Azureus by chance, which is a client that runs the torrents. It's really easy now and I realized much faster and reliable than Edonkey. Not as many fake files either as you can report them to the websites. I think Azareus and Torrentspy.com is the best combination for downloading. I got several movies and games today alone. Edonkey sometimes takes days to a week.

In my experience this has not been the case, and I've been looking for some pretty damned hard to find stuff.

Demophobe can you point me towards an installer for Exeem which doesn't have a mass of adware and spyware in it like the official beta version does ??

Yes, in theory, the trackers were a good idea, but as we have seen lately, they were indeed what brought/ is bringing BT down.

The solution to spyware/adware is just to wait.....there is already an Exeem Lite out there, so just wait and we shall have the clean version.

I loaded the regular Exeem, as I am not too concerned with the adware/spyware issue personally. It's been a bit overblown by the leftists, and the right came out so defensive, they looked like some kind of computer black ops team. It's all out of proportion in a way.

I can live with adware....nothing is totally free. I have a lot of music, so if that's the only cost incurred, a small banner ad running, I can live with that easily.

So I guess if you're selfish and don't like to share once you've downloaded you shouldn't use Bit torrent. The trackers are a good policy in my opinion and Exeem doesn't sound any different than Kazzaa or the others. Plus the speed of Bit torrent totally kicks butt, can you get a tv show in 25-40 minutes? I can't even remember how frustrating it used to be to have to wait hours/days for stuff from Kazaa and the lot.

Just because Suprnova is gone, doesn't mean Bit Torrent is going down. Do a search and you will see tons of torrent sites left and going strong. I'd be very surprised if Exeem even comes close....

Some people might not be selfish...they just might not have enough space on their hard drive to keep so many seeds. That's what's been happening to me. Especially with so many giant files.

Using whatever p2p program you have, you can often browse people you are connected to. For example, if I'm looking for hard to find British comedy, I search for something like blackadder or fawlty towers. I find loads of hits, I then browse though the users to see what else they have. Usually, they have other stuff in the same genre which for some reason never shows up when I search for it at a higher level. With winmx and azureus you can instant message them to shre the file or you can simply enqueue the file to download it as normal. I wouldn't recommend DLing more than one file per user though or you'll wait the rest of your life for them.
