There is a new mexican restaurant near Olympic park behind the Citibank building kitty corner from Olympic Apartments (BangI Station) called The Cook's Bell.

I will give you my review next week.

I heard there is a new Mexican restaurant under Hyundae Dept. Store at COEX. Is this true?

I ordered nachoes ("nacho") at a well-furnished Western "Sky Lounge" restaurant (here on Geoje) better known for its t-bone steaks.

When ordering I asked for salsa or sour cream or guacamole from a waiter whose English went from good to... Shocked . "Ketchup?" he wondered. Uh, no. So I said that's ok, I still want nachoes anyways, knowing from the menu that there's a lot of cheese and beef and veggies and beans.

What I received was two tortilla chips. Two. Big though, with toppings that made both of them look like a mini-pizza. I almost wondered if this was a kind of Mexican food I hadn't had in Canada or California. Then I realized: It must be a Korean adaptation, like a hamburger with a rice bun.

The two nachoes did taste good, I'll give them that.

I ate at the Cook's Bell Friday. It was good but not cheap. Expect to spend $15-20, but a good meal. Not bad variety and waiter speaks good English. I spent about 20,000 won including a few draft beers (2500)

Thanks, I was planning to go there on Sunday ...

20, 000 won including beers at 2500 does not sound bad at all.

I am sure the staff spoke "good" English, perhaps ...

never mind ...

I will go there A.S.A.P.

TacoTaco sucked. I ordered a beef enchilada and chicken quesadillas, and my wife opted for the beef fajita. What we got was rice wrapped in a flour tortilla. Bra-vo. While filling, calling this food Tex-Mex or Mexican or otheriwise is a scam and a sham and a downright shame. The pictures on the menu show beef, and lots of it. I think I found two or three pieces of beef in my enchilada, and I'm guessing they actually put some chicken in my enchiladas.

On the other hand, the meal did satisfy my appetite. However, I could have bought a couple of rolls of gimbap for W2500 if I merely wanted to be satiated.

One and a half stars outta five for this joint.

If you want something slightly tastier (and cheaper) pick up a W2500 taco at the stand which materializes nightly in front of Limelight.

Hey panther

Yes I live near Chamsil station. Did you try the grub? I believe I had enchiladas with chicken and beef. It was good. Even at near $15. But the thing for me was, holy crap, I got back from Vietnam in December, where I ate this stuff for 3 or 4 bucks. A bit of a drag.

And Vietnamese noodles (Pho) here? A letdown. Up to ten times the price for what is not that good in Vietnam or here.

I had enchiladas and they were O.K.

My companion had the fahitia (beef) and it looked good.

She said it was better then any other western restaurant in Seoul.

We would go back.

Uno's at Coex is still my favorite western restuarant.

Cook's Bell; Clean, "Good", not cheap, not expensive, I will go back.

I wish Casa Maya was closer, however ...

There's a taco stand that has opened in Sinchon - it's on the same street as the Krispy Kreme (a few doors up), heading away from that main street that runs from the rotary to Yonsei front gates. 1000 for an 'original' taco, 1500 for a 'luxury taco'. Plus free Pepsi.

Original taco had taco meat (mixed with onions), additional onions, rice, lots of salsa. Luxury had the same but with peppers, cheese and corn. Pretty filling, decent for what you're going to get in this area and at this price - we dragged a Mexican exchange student down to try it and he gave it a passing grade.

The guy who runs it is really nice, speaks decent English - they opened last Thursday, it seems pretty busy.
