Can anyone help me out with a site where I can download free software? I have viewed many sites....With so many sites...many offer free 30, 60, 90 day trials and then charge you. Surly...must be some decent software for free?! Thank you!

(Ignore if not helpful, but I just removed 6 worms with http://www.pandasoftware.com/activescan/ ... since I don't have an AV program yet.)

http://www.avast.com/

Avast is by far the best AV out there and it is free. Killer software.

I'm just trying Panda now, as I want to give Norton the old heave-ho. Note that it doesn't work unless you have IE as your browser, so I had to start up the MicroBeastie browser for the first time in a month or so.

Found two infected files so far, and not finished yet.

Good thing is that it doesn't bring everything else to a standstill while it scans.

I use AVAST, and am very happy. You get some time free, but after registering, it's free for like a year or two? Then free again once you re-register.

It also has a mini-firewall.

So, Panda Antivirus makes you use the most vulnerable browser out there to make it work? Ok then....avoid that one.

I've been using AVG for a while, and it's good stuff, low on resources and scans daily.

If you already have Panda, or their online scan, installed, you'll get a virus warning right after installing Avast. Avast will detect a virus because of a particular unencrypted file in the Panda antivirus.
