I had two separate classes in the same day make reference to "Aprica Man."

In one class, they were saying my haircut looked like Africa Man. In another, something prompted them to chant "Aprica Man," and do some tribal dance that would be considered offensive where I come from.

I'm wondering if a TV sketch comedy show or something has been doing a character called Africa Man or something else on TV. Just odd that my classes have simultaneously started using this phrase in their conversations.

You're a subtle, sensitive guy. I heard you say that, re; a thread on food poisoning, you watched a plastic film wrapped pack of oysters sit for a week at a mart. Or about how you look for the promotions and hit stores only for their 'big losers' profit wise. Like a sensitive, careful person.
Too bad those kids, talking about 'Aprica Man' while doing 'headhunter dances' are going after a finely tuned, and maintained, sense of composure. But all the more fun. If you were as crazy as they are then there'd be nothing to bust.

I'm not sure whether to cringe or laugh sometimes at Koreans' condecension towards what they consider 'primative' peoples. One of our books has a story in which the characters encounter an Austrialian aboriginee who looks like a 1950s cartoon charactature of an African tribesman with a bone through his nose. The kids think that's just how other people are. If you make people they make fun of look cool that helps a bit.

Subtle and sensitive... cool, thanks! Cool

I posted before that I may be more aware of this because I come from an area known for its tradition of racism.

But anyway, since we're on that topic, how about this picture taken in Ansan near my apartment:
