Does anyone know anything about the school PSA? A friend has been offered a job there but does not really know anything about it. She has been told the hours are 9-7, but that teaching does not begin until 3, which sounds kind of strange. |

No idea.
And yes, it does sound strange, really strange. What is your friend doing between 9-3? 6 hours of nosepicking? Red Flag!!! |

I recently interviewed with a PSA, and I turned them down only because of the salary. Everything else about them seemed great, and the teaching hours were 10-4:30 or 6:00 (max). The school closes at 6:00. But it seemed like a great school, attached to the Korea International School, which is a real school with a real campus and sports fields and a wrought iron fence around it. |

If it's PSA meaning YBM Pre-School Academy, there are 3 of them -- Gaepo PSA, Seocho PSA and their new addition, Apgujeong PSA.
They are all for kindies, aged 5, 6 and 7. If the contract states that teaching doesn't start until 3....well, that's strange. Perhaps your friend has been hired not as a classroom teacher but as a subject-specific teacher (violin, cooking, science, or art) and they wont' need him/her in the classroom until 3pm? It's something to double check on.... or perhaps it is another school that has "taken" the name, in hopes that parents will confuse the 2 acadamies and think they are related....it's been known to happen....
If it is one of the above mentioned Pre-School Acadamies, then they are really really good schools - high-level of English, well-run, and well-organised. Although there are 20 students in a class, the foreigner is the "class teacher" and there are 2 full time assistants per class - a Korean-English teacher who is bilingual and trained as a teacher, who helps you with everything, and a Korean teacher who has decent English but might not be fully fluent, and is reponsible for helping with classroom things (like snack time).
The downfall is that they do pay on the low side for the amount of responsibility and work-load (in line with YBM's typical 1.8 - 1.9), but on the up side, you do have good kids to deal with, a FANTASTIC building complete with everything you need, and an early finish time (the school building closes at 6pm, classes only run until 4:30 at the latest). |

Actually, my friend confused PSA with another school. She would just teach 9-4. |
