OK, next up:

food stuff: there will be catered meals, for those interested. Again, from direct e-m:

Nathan's Cheffing History
Completed apprenticeship in French cuisine, 1994 (4 years)
5 Star hotel chef for several years, Australia, New Caledonia, England
Head Chef for London Restaurant 1999
Head chef in the french Alps 2000
5 star Chef, Olympics 2000

Nathan's Kitchen

1-On Saturday Nite I'm cooking a 3 course meal for 25 000won
Meals served between 6 and 9pm

Entree -spicy hot Pumpkin Soup (piping hot vegetable soup)
Main- Char Grilled Australian Sirlion Steak served with a Roasted garlic & Mushroom Jus(gravy)
with Potatoes & Salad
Dessert- Devil's Own Chocolate Cake & Sauce

2-Friday Nite on your arrival a choice of piping hot pasta will be available for 7000 won 'til 2 am or the arrival of the last bus.

3-Sunday lunch there will be a Choice of curry& rice or marinated beef/chicken & vegetables with rice available for 10 000won from 1pm on

Tickets are available individually (price indicated as above) or

Sold as a set for 40 000won

Also during saturday and early sunday a selection of sandwiches, pastas, salads and Nori Rolls (seaweed rolls) and others delights will be available at a reasonable price

Alternative Meals are available for Vegetarians.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Walking distance between places should be short & easy.
If you plan on doing a lot of tubbin/bathing, a towel (real sized) will do you good. As for nude hot tubbing, it is sort of expected, HOWEVER there WILL be other people at/using the resort, so common sense/discretion is appreciated - e.g. - don't head between the tubs & your place butt-azzed nekkid.
Other questions?
Regards,
G.
We're heading down early Friday afternoon (driving); curious who else from the board here is going . . .
Should be a great time - as of last night, there were only about 25 slots left, so they will do ok on this one. I am hoping it shapes up at least as well as the Beach Party in An-myon did.
Regards,
G.
hmmm. let's see.
the bus from seoul to the resort took over 4 hours...instead of 2.5 .
people were smoking on the bus and generally acting like idiots.
when the bus stopped for pee breaks, some idiots decided it would be cool to piss on the side of it instead of walking 50m to the washrooms.
because it was late, the washroom staff had fenced off part of the facilities to clean it. that didn't stop some of the dudes from jumping the fence, tracking in fresh slush and pissing in freshly cleaned urinals.
arriving at the resort, i failed to see the value of paying 50,000/night to sleep on a shared floor and MAYBE get a blanket and pillow.
some buses arrived well after 4am the first night and the people went to their assigned shared rooms, only to find that others has taken it over.
they were forced to search in the cold for vacancies in other condos.
the condos were actually a shuttle bus ride from the ski resort. and the bus would stop running at 10pm. night skiing was a problem. you had to sign up fo your skiing time in advance (befoe arrival at the condos), so night skiing was a surprise problem.
the promised spa facility was not working. so we had to go to the main resort to use the 'spa' which was actually a public bath (with 3 small baths and a small sauna). there weren't even places in there to shave.
food prices were ridiculuous. the promoters took control of the restaurant at the condos. the second day lunch menu was half out of stock, half overpriced slop.
the space set aside for music and jiggy was actually the small first floor of one of the condos. people were assigned to sleep on the second floor, but music played all night and day.
in the dance 'condo', you had to take off your shoes as people were staying upstairs. it being winter, with snow and all, there was sandy, slushy water being tracked in anyway. that, combined with spilled drinks, made walking around in socks really fun. the partiers even had to share the same bathrooms upstairs with the people who were staying in that condo.
there were two different condos with music, and you had to get your shoes back on and go back outside for a walk to get to the other building.
my shoes were 'borrowed' twice....despite the fact that i hid them. most people ended up having to search between 2 building to eventually find their shoes.
drinks were overpriced and the bartenders played stupid with the change.
total costs
100,000 for 2 days crappy accomodation per person
100,000 for 2 days ski lift
120,000 for 2 days equipment rental (on the low side/ski time)
40,000 for 2 days meals (on the very low side)
70,000 for 2 nights drinking (4,000 for mixed...3,000for beer)
---------
430,000 for two days of constant disappointment
i hear they are planning a new trip in march. i think i'll go to Mt.Fuji for better value.
So what you are saying is it wasn't too good. Very Happy
If one thing I have learnt here.
Snow and koreans are not a good mix.
But how were the DJ's, that would have been my main concern.
If they were good i wouldn't have even worried about sleeping
Since I was one of the people who was sharing a small room with the four other people in our group in the condo that was hosting the party...I'd have to say that it was a complete waste of money. We had lots of fun...but NEVER GO ON A TRIP WITH THESE E-TARDS!!!
It was by far the most haphazardly organized event i've ever been to. We each paid 100,000 for the bus ride up and the place to stay for two days---500,000 won to share one room on the floor with 4 other people!!!! If I could re-do it we would've booked a place at the base of the ski hill for 200,000, taken a bus from Seoul that would cost 14,000, and taken a taxi up the the party (why did they have wristbands anyways?). there was a store at the condos that sold alcohol way cheaper and the girl working there told us that the organizers ordered her to not sell alcohol to any of the event-goers!!!
Actually, the shuttles were so badly organized that my friends took a taxi back up cuz they got sick of waiting for two hours. When we asked the dude organizing where the pick up was he said "uh uh...I dunno." We also waited for an hour and a half in the morning for a shuttle to the ski hill. Hmm....what else...oh yeah....we waited in line to go up the gondola to the top only to find out that the tickets given to us didn't include the gondola...Fucking Awesome Trip Man!!
and no cigarettes for sale at all for the entire weekend??? what were they thinking?
why didn't mike holiday learn from the snafus of the summer party?
btw, he reserved the prime spot for himself to Dj each night. 12am...cheesy hip hop and radio style mixing. cut from one tune to the next. why bother even bringing music. he evacuated the dance floor with that crap.
he sent me an email saying that there will be another party in March and that they learned a lot from this one.
conicidently, that's also what he said after the first summer party.
i learned a lot, too. never to give him another won.
I went to the beach party last year organised by that guy and the same thing happened- many unfulfilled promises and a half baked set-up. His parties suck- avoid them!
the party wasn't that bad. there are always things that need to be better organised, but i still had fun.
i think maybe because back home there are lots of recreational chemicals so we don't notice the b.s at parties as much as we do here (alcohol and hangovers make me much harder to please).
we were prepared after the summer party, so we brought all our own food/blankets etc... i don't know about partying after skiing though, i'm so tired afterward.
