| I believe in ghosts... I lived in a haunted dorm at Dalhousie my first year. It was a big, creepy old building, and the original section dated from the 1920's. I don't know the true story of the ghost - I've heard she was a maid who hung herself, a student who hung herself, etc. |

| I took a bunch of prescription painkillers at the bar last night and hallucinated. Does that count? |

There's a few businesses in Calgary that are supposedly haunted. http://www.monstershindig.com/roadside/alberta.html has some interesting tidbits of information.
One of the businesses is a pub called Hose and Hound Neighbourhood Pub. The website has this to say about it. "Ghostly horses and dogs are quite common in haunted locations, but this spot is said to be haunted by a phantom monkey. Around the turn of the previous century, this location had been Firehall Number Three. The firemen posted there had two pet monkeys. One day, one of the monkeys, named Barney, bit and clawed a child who was fooling with it, forcing the fireman to put the beast down. Nowadays, the spot suffers playful pranks perpetrated by the unseen primate, including flying objects, appliances starting on their own, and shoes being untied, among other activities."
Another rumour has it that the firehall burned down. Trapped inside was a horse. It died in the fire and its ghost is said to haunt the present day pub. I've been there a few times, but have never sensed anything unusual. I've also heard that paranormal researchers set up shop there to record paranormal activity. |

| *sigh* People! ghosts don't exist. There are no such things as ghosts and bogeymen, whisps, poltergeists or any of that nonsense. Horoscopes are nonsense, reading tealeaves, chicken entrails, voodoo and the like is alllnonsensefor the weak minded and gullible. |

But strange things do happen, even if they don't exist. |

Don't forget about the Deane House in Inglewood. That place is supposed to be hella scary. And some of the old places in Heritage Park and a few old buildings around Fish Creek, too. I used to live right next to Fish Creek and remember all the fun ghosthunting stuff that we used to do as kids. |

There seem to be a lot of Ghost movies made in Korea, and I remember a TV programe that related personal stories of people meeting people who were dead. Remember one such programe of a guy who was picked up by a girl, and who spent the night with her in a motel. Next day he goes to a memorial service for the same girl who had died a few days before his supposed encounter with her.
Don't know if the programe is still continuing, but it used to come every night at around 10:30
Was an article awhile back criticising the number of ghost (torkebi ) movies that were beinjg produced in Korea. |

| There's got to be a paranormal research group in Korea. Probably at one of the universities. I would be all over that like flies on *beep*, as I'm totally into that kind of stuff. |
I read somewhere that the Moonies actually have a team working on building a radio that can talk to spirits I imagine they would charge quite a bit of money for followers to use such a "machine" |

never really understood these "weak minded" insults.
If someone experiences something they can't describe, I would think one would have to be incredibly STRONG minded to defend something that coule never be proven to someone who doesn't believe you and insults you. |

I worked at a summer school last summer, and one night in the middle of a treasure hunt, these girls from Hong Kong came up to me and said their friend had seen a ghost. They all looked seriously freaked out, and said that their freind could not unclench their fist. I took her hand and it was freezing cold and tried with all my strength to open her fist but couldnt. So took her to get a cup of tea (British!) She kept speaking but her eyes were totally glazed and her face was white, her friends said she was saying she couldn't hear what anyone saying.
Apparently while going to post a letter she heard someone talk into her ear and then felt like she was being stabbed. Freaked me right out!
Eventually someone prayed with her, and she relaxed and unclenched her hand, but later she said she could feel warm water running down her legs.Turns out the alley near the post box was rumoured to be haunted by an ex pupil of the school, who died there.
Anyway she was so scared she flew back to Hong Kong.
So although didn't see the ghost myself have never seen anyone so genuinely scared, I had to sleep with my light on for quite some time! |
